After watching Stranger Things Season 4, you might well be looking for the locations spotlighted in the season. In that case, we’ve got your back.
Because, after such an engaging story and cast of characters, we are keen to learn more about the setup. Especially if the show is of the science-fiction variety.
The fourth season consists of nine episodes and is still produced by the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers. Currently, 7 episodes from Volume 1 have been released, with 2 lengthy episodes from Volume 2 set to be released on July 1, 2022.
Though there is still time, we should definitely look into the extravaganza destination. Let’s get started.
Stranger Things Season 4 Filming Location
You should be aware that the season was shot in multiple locations rather than just a few.
In February 2020, the Duffer Brothers and Netflix revealed in a joint declaration that production on the fourth season had officially started in Vilnius, Lithuania, at the recently shuttered Lukiškės Prison. You’ve heard of the prison we’re referring to? It’s where Hopper was kept during the season.
It was one of the most anticipated revelations that we all awaited. After more than a century of continuous employment, the prison was overcrowded and in need of renovations.
On July 2, 2019, the prison was officially closed. Following its shutdown, it was made available to the public for outings. That includes the filming as well. It’s an old Tsarist prison with a malevolent background story.
However, as an instance of architectural style, it is amazing and immediately inspired the crew members.
The following city is Atlanta. Following the completion of production in Lithuania, shooting scenes resumed in the United States in and around the Atlanta metropolitan region, which had served as the principal production location in previous seasons.
However, if you recall, every shooting scene was halted due to the pandemic, and the pandemic occurred during the season’s filming. Everything came to a halt. Hawkins’ scenes were shot in Atlanta.
A substantial portion of the filming took place at Albuquerque Studios in New Mexico, which Netflix acquired in 2018. And Stranger Things isn’t the only movie or show that was shot in that studio.
Hawkins High School Set, Georgia
We definitely needed to include this. Filming in Georgia restarted on September 28, 2020, after several delays. Natalia Dyer, Sadie Sink, and Gaten Matarazzo were all sighted filming scenes at the Hawkins Middle School and Hawkins High School sets on October 1, 2020.
The three were also seen filming scenes for Dustin’s house the next day on the set. This season made use of the previous season’s set.
And, of course, our main characters were at school during this season as well. To be precise, it’s Stockbridge, Georgia’s former Patrick Henry High School.
Desert In New Mexico
We literally meant the desserts when we said we’d mention the location. The crew filmed in the desert of New Mexico, which was terrifying—stark and extremely hot.
The team essentially built an underground missile silo in the desert near Zia Pueblo, just outside of Albuquerque.
Creel House, Georgia
Worth mentioning. This location is surrounded on all sides by Season 4. The topmost story of the Creel House was squared off in its specifics, and the roofline had a distinctive look.
It almost felt like it was tilting toward you in a massive and frightening manner. And this is why the crew chose this location. In Atlanta, there were numerous shooting types of beautiful houses, but none like this one.
The Creel House was displayed on the historic Claremont House in Rome.
Trailer Park, Griffin Georgia
Along with that, we’ve seen new locations too. On March 15, 2021, set pictures of a trailer park in Griffin, Georgia decked out in tendrils from the Upside Down were publicly revealed.
If you’re wondering if this was a setup, you may be mistaken. The setting for the fictional Forest Hills was a real trailer park featured in the season.
Remember how the season’s trailer showed us a cemetery that broke our hearts? The emotional scene between Billy and Max took place in the same cemetery.
The Stone Mountain Cemetery in Stone Mountain, Georgia serves as the setting for Hawkins Cemetery. It’s also the same cemetery where Will’s trumped-up memorial was held.
In Season 2, Barb’s funeral was also held there. It’s just that the team reused the site that showed Max missing her brother.
Aside from that, multiple scenes were shot in various locations. That includes Lenora Hills in New Mexico. Well, you’re welcome to share your opinions on the location in the comment section below.
