Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is returning with a new season soon! Paramount+ has unveiled the official trailer for the highly anticipated series, which follows Captain Christopher Pike and the rest of the USS Enterprise exploring new worlds in the 23rd century.
Strange New Worlds, which premiered in June 2022, is the 11th overall Star Trek series. Along with the trailer, the release date for the second season has also been revealed by the network. Read on to watch the trailer and know more about the show.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2: Release Date Announced with New Trailer
The trailer shows Pike and Lt. Erica Ortegas trying to pull the spaceship from a downward spiral, as the former asks, “You’re going to start the engines sometime soon, Erica?” We then see the group having a sigh of relief as the spaceship somehow manages to stay afloat.
The footage then shows the new worlds and adventures that the group will embark on in the new season. There is also a glimpse of the highly awaited Star Trek: Lower Decks crossover. The special episode will feature the animated characters of Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler appearing in live-action.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 is set to premiere on Paramount+ on June 15th. The 10-episode season will release new episodes weekly, with the finale scheduled to air on August 17th.
‘The Upcoming Season is Bigger and Crazier,’ Says Showrunner
Talking about what the audiences can expect from the new season, showrunner Henry Alonso Myers teased that it is going to be ‘bigger, crazier and stranger’ than the first one. “In some ways, it’s different. We were trying to take what worked and really amplify that. And then try to correct where we weren’t happy with it,” he stated.
Myers continued, “But the biggest thing we tried to do was not hold back stuff. We were really like, ‘Okay, let’s pretend this is our last season. And let’s absolutely go for everything that we wanted to do.’ I would say we tried to do comedy, and we were like, ‘Let’s go for bigger comedy. Let’s make things bigger and crazier.’”
“One of the things that I wanted to do a correction on was that I feel like we weren’t able to really touch on every single character. We’ve worked really hard to try to give every character their moment in the show. That’s the hardest thing about the show.”
Strange New Worlds Season 2 will Feature Several Guest Stars
The star cast who are reprising their roles includes Anson Mount as Christopher Pike, Ethan Peck as Spock, Jess Bush as Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’an Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas, Babs Olusanmokun as Joseph M’Benga and Rebecca Romijn as Una Chin-Riley / Number One.
Additionally, the new season will feature a number of guest stars, including Carol Kane as Pelia, Paul Wesley as James T. KirkPaul Wesley as James T. Kirk, Dan Jeannotte as George Samuel “Sam” Kirk, Tawny Newsome as Beckett Mariner and Jack Quaid as Brad Boimler.
