Sony Pictures have unveiled the first official trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which showcases the challenges Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy face as they travel through the multiverse.
The film is the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, which went on to win the Oscar for Best Animated feature. Continue reading to watch the trailer and know the release date of the film.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Trailer Hints Trouble for Miles
The trailer features much of the footage from the previous film; however, it also introduces several new characters. Miles and Gwen are seen coming across much-awaited characters like Spider-Woman and Spider-Man from the PlayStation game.
The trailer also shows a fight sequence between Miles and Spider-Man 2099. Meanwhile, there is a continuing conversation between Miles and his mother, Rio, who tells him to take care of himself. There is also a brief cameo from the late Stan Lee. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse releases in cinemas on June 2, 2023. Watch the trailer below.
Fans have loved the trailer and are showering praises on the film with their comments. “It’s nice seeing how much Miles has grown. In the first movie, he needed his father’s guidance, and in the second, it seems he needs his mother’s. This movie is going to be so worth the wait,” wrote a fan.
Another commented, “Into The Spider-Verse is my favorite movie of all time, and I am so excited for Across The Spider-Verse. I love Spider-Man, I love the storytelling and visuals, and most importantly, I love how inspirational the movie is. It is a beautiful craft and message.”
Into The Spider-Verse Sequel has been Split into Two Films
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was initially set to have only one sequel; however, last year, it was announced that the sequel had been split into two parts, with Across the Spider-Verse releasing in 2023, and the final film, Beyond the Spider-Verse arriving in 2024.
The official synopsis of the film reads, “Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse.”
“There he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redifine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most,” the synopsis reads further.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Voice Cast
The film will feature Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara, Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis, Luna Lauren Vélez as Rio Morales, Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, Jason Schwartzman as the Spot and Daniel Kaluuya as Hobart Brown.
Across the Spider-Verse is helmed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Justin K. Thompson, and Kemp Powers, with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Christina Steinberg serving as producers. Into the Spider-Verse director, Peter Ramsey will serve as the executive producer along with Aditya Sood.
