Simone Biles is officially married to her husband again! The Olympic champion, who tied the knot with NFL Star Jonathan Owens in a court wedding last month, exchanged vows with him again in a grand wedding celebration in Mexico on Saturday.
The dreamy wedding was attended by the couple’s family and friends, as they both stunned in designer clothes. Biles met Owens through a dating app in 2020. Read on to know more and pictures of the couple’s lavish wedding celebration.
Simone Biles Ties the Knot with Husband Jonathan Owens for the Second Time in Grand Ceremony
The 26-year-old gymnast had legally gotten married to footballer Jonathan Owens at a Texas courthouse on April 22nd. The couple, meanwhile, planned a destination wedding that took place in Cabo San Lucas on May 6th. The ceremony was attended by 140 guests and featured beautiful gold and white decor.
The couple changed their own wedding vows in the presence of 8 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen. Biles rocked a white Galia Lahav gown on her special day. “When I started dress shopping, I was like, If I get married, it has to be a Galia Lahav. And so, once I looked at the dresses I was like, This is definitely my style,” the gymnast said of her wedding dress.
“I like the sheer, I like how it fits, and then the little pearl details, I love the pearls. If there’s something else I wanted at my wedding, it’s flowers and pearls. I was nervous about having a ball gown because I’m so petite — but it works perfect,” she added.
Biles and Jonathan Announced their Wedding Last Month
The couple made the announcement of their first wedding on Instagram last month. After getting married at the 1910 Harris County Courthouse in Houston, Biles shared a series of romantic photos with her husband and wrote, “I do 🤍 officially owens 🤍.”
The seven-time Olympic medalist sported a $119 tiered white gown by Selfie Leslie for her court wedding, while the groom wore a tan suit. Owens also shared the photos on his own Instagram and captioned, “My person, forever ❤️💍#TheOwens #ItsOfficial.”
The Couple Began Dating in 2020
After a brief encounter during a Texas game in 2019, Biles met Owens through the dating app Raya in March 2020. A few months later, they went public with their relationship. After two years of dating, the couple got engaged in February 2022.
Biles earlier talked about how supportive Owens is in an interview and said, “Oh, he’s always so supportive. Even if I wake up in the morning and I’m like, I’m tired, do I have to go, jokingly, he’s like Don’t say that! You can do it, this is your dream!”
“He’s always, always so helpful and making sure I stay on top of my therapy and all of that. He’s the best because he also goes through it [as an athlete], so he knows exactly how it is in the process. It’s been amazing to have him,” she added about the 27-year-old Houston Texans player.
