Shaunie O’Neal and Keion Henderson tie the knot!
“I just lost my dad in February. So, I really struggled with how I was going to get down the aisle. Losing my dad in the midst of planning this wedding was a lot, so my sons handed me off.”, Shaunie spoke about her marriage.
Shaunie O’Neal’s marriage to pastor Keion Henderson comes after her marriage with Shaquille O’Neal. She was married to Shaquille from 2002 to 2011 and had five kids too.
After losing her father, Shaunie was in grief; however, soon later with the help of her sons, she was ready to walk down the aisle. She got married to Keion on 28th May 2022 in Anguilla.
Shaunie and Keion are onto a happily ever after!
Shaunie has starred in Basketball Wives and has a son from her previous relationship, Myles. She walked down the aisle on her day accompanied by her five sons at the Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club.
She was certain about the chosen location, as she fell in love with the place the very first time she saw it.
“We immediately fell in love with it. I think after that first visit, we knew this was the place we wanted to get married. We are proud to connect [with the people on this island]. We wanted our guests to have a weekend of enjoyment.”
She went on, “We just like to have fun and love each other and we wanted to do that with our friends and family.”
Shaunie split with her ex-husband in 2009 and quoted “irreconcilable differences” to be the reason. Further to it, she began dating Keion in 2019. In 2021, she got engaged to him which finally led to their marriage in 2022.
Additionally, Shaunie wasn’t very happy after Keion didn’t kiss her during their first date. Keion stated, ” “I was in California getting ready to preach. … She finally agreed to meet me if she had time after eating. But [afterwards], I walk her to her car, give her a sideways hug, and I let her get in the car and drive off. She gave me complete pandemonium [over not kissing her] for weeks. So [at the wedding] I showed her the kiss I would have given her the day I met her.”
The “Grand Affair”
The venue was indeed a tropical island where The Basketball Wives alumni married her pastor fiance.
More than 200 guests attended the wedding. The outdoor ceremony happened on the goal course. Yolanda Adams sang when the bride made her spontaneous entry.
It meant “everything” to Shaunie to have her sons support her during her day. She refers to her family as a “package deal” in maintaining relationships.
O’Neal was draped in a gorgeous gown designed by Jean Louis Sabajai alongside fashion icon, Eric Archibald. She paired the look with a veil which added spark to her whole look.
She wore a pair of Jimmy Choo and jewelry from David Yurman.
Keion, on the other hand, wore a cream tux from Dolce and Gabbana. The reception had the pair’s close ones enjoy their meal in Anguillian dishes.
Let’s hope Shaunie leads a fantastic married life with Keion. Thoughts?
