Actress Sakina Jaffrey is gearing up for a recurring role on the second season of “American Gods.” The Starz show is currently shooting season 2 which will premiere next year. Jaffrey is a fan of the show and is excited to join the cast, she jokingly said she got “the best summer job” on Twitter.

The actress is known for her roles in hit shows like “The Mindy Project,” “House of Cards” and “Timeless.” The versatile star will take on the role of a Hindu goddess on “American Gods.” Jaffrey will play Mama-Ji, currently a waitress at Motel America, but Mama-ji is actually the Hindu goddess of war. Jaffrey will be seen rocking an eccentric look with necklaces of skulls and being a free spirit with a sharp wit. Mama-ji is a powerful goddess who can battle it out with any man or god.

“American Gods” is a mythological fantasy drama based on the award-winning novel by Neil Gaiman. The show also stars Emily Browning, Orlando Jones, Pablo Schreiber, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langley and Crispin Glover. Many of the actors have even reached out to Jaffrey via social media, welcoming her to the team.

Until the new season, you can catch Jaffrey as the fierce Agent Denise Christopher in the popular NBC show “Timeless.” She also has recurring roles on USA’s “Mr. Robot” and Hulu’s “The Mindy Project” as Mindy’s mother. Skilled and versatile an actress that she is, Jaffrey is definitely going leave her mark on this new show.
