Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon will star in Nolan’s upcoming movie ‘Oppenheimer,’ that’s centered on the World War II epic. The atomic bomb’s development is the theme of the movie. Well, the roles of the characters have yet to be revealed as to what they would portray in this upcoming movie.
J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist who oversaw the Manhattan Project that led to the discovery of the atomic bomb, is the subject of the movie, which Nolan is writing and directing. The movie will be released in North America.
Oppenheimer is based on Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer. Nolan will also be producing the movie, along with Emma Thomas and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven.
‘Oppenheimer’ Described As Epic Thriller
A $100 million budget has been cast aside for the production of the film. The movie ‘Oppenheimer,’ is described as an “epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.” And it’s being distributed by Universal Pictures.
The movie’s production will begin in early 2022. Emily Blunt, who will most likely play Oppenheimer’s wife Katherine. And this was recently reported to be in discussions to join the ensemble. Nolan is known for organizing ensembles that include a combination of celebrities he’s already worked with as well as newbies.
‘Oppenheimer’ Will Be Distributed By Universal Pictures
Oppenheimer will be distributed in theaters throughout the world by Universal Pictures. Christopher Nolan’s latest movie, Tenet, was distributed by Warner Bros. But the filmmaker has since left the studio and will release Oppenheimer through Universal. In a competitive bidding war with Paramount, Sony, and Warner Bros., Universal obtained the rights to the movie.
Nolan, the director of ‘The Dark Knight,’ ‘Inception,’ and ‘Tenet,’ terminated a 20-year connection with Warner Bros. By opting to collaborate with Universal on his next production.
During the pandemic, however, his long-standing relationship with Warner Bros., which has supported all of his major movies, became strained as the studio revealed that its 2021 slate will premiere on HBO Max on the same day as their individual theatrical releases.
‘Tenet,’ Nolan’s latest big-budget tentpole, premiered in theaters in September 2020 and grossed $58 million in North America and $363 million worldwide.
