Fast X has been speeding up production and now Rita Moreno is the new addition to the cast. Moreno has been cast as the grandmother of Domonic Toretto, Vin Diesel.

The Oscar, Tony and Emmy winning actress Rita Moreno board the Fast X and her role is a major one. The Fast and Furious franchise star Vin Diesel took up to his Instagram and announced the film’s latest casting through a video of the actor joined by Rita. The two shared how blessed they are to be together and play their respective roles alongside the presence of their co-star Michelle Rodriguez.
“It’s been my dream forever to work with Rita Moreno, and the fact that she’s here playing my grandmother makes my soul smile. I am so blessed,” Diesel says in the clip.

The 90-year old Moreno also expresses that “So far this is the oldest I’ve ever been,” responds to Diesel, “You know what, I think my old age was waiting for you to invite me. Isn’t that nice? And I’m here. And the answer is, yes, I’ll do it. And not only do it but I’m also tickled, I’m tickled, I’m so thrilled. This is going to be so much fun.”
Diesel and him Adding Big Stars to the Cast
It is quite usual for Vin Diesel to add a big and popular star to the Fast and Furious Franchise to take up the roles of his character’s family. In F9 he cast John Cena as Jackob Toretto, Dom’s brother. The theme of family in the Fast series has been given quite an importance by Diesel, which is also why he made sure that Jordana Brewster would ala return in Fast X as Dom and Jackob’s sister, Mia Toretto.

Rita Moreno’s Accomplished Career
The 90-year-old actress has won an Oscar in 1962 for her legendary role as Anita in the West Side Story, she even took on the role of Jest Alley Valentina in the latest adaptation of the musical.

Moreno’s upcoming projects include cartoon Saloon’s animated film My Father’s Dragon which is a Netflix Original and the Endeavor Content and Paramount’s 80 for Brady. Moreno is repped by John Mitchell Ferguson.

Fast X is the latest film in the vagrant action franchise by Universal Pictures. The franchise had grossed over $6 billion globally. The plot details of the upcoming film have been still not revealed. dan Mazeau and Justin Lin have written the picture alongside Louis Leterrier who came aboard to direct the film following Lin’s exit after few days into production.
