Ray Stevenson Net Worth: Earnings of the ‘Thor’ Actor Explored as He Passes Away at 58

The entertainment world is mourning the death of Ray Stevenson. The Irish actor passed away on May 21st after being hospitalized in Italy during the production of his upcoming film, Cassino in Ischia.

Stevenson, known for his memorable roles in the Thor films, had been in the industry for almost three decades. While more details about his death are awaited, fans are paying tributes to the actor and are eager to know more about his life, including his net worth and earnings.

Ray Stevenson Net Worth

As per the website Celebrity Net Worth, Ray Stevenson had a net worth of $8 million at the time of his death in May 2023. Most of this wealth came from his long and illustrious acting career. Born in 1964 in Northern Ireland to a Royal Air Force pilot father, Stevenson moved to England with his family at the age of eight.

After working at an architectural firm in London for some time, he decided to make a career in acting and graduated from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School at the age of 29. Stevenson made his debut with a small role in the television show A Woman’s Guide to Adultery. He went on to appear in shows like The Dwelling Place, Some Kind of Life, and Band of Gold.

Talking about how he got into acting, Stevenson had revealed in an earlier interview, “I had to face up to the realization and it was an epiphany: that what I thought was a decision to be an actor was false. There was no decision to make. It’s a vocation. I had no choice. I had to accept to throw myself into it with no guarantee but to launch and just go.”

Film Debut and Breakthrough

Stevenson got his first film credit in 1998 when he appeared as a Gigolo in The Theory of Flight. He then shot to fame by playing Dagonet in 2004’s King Arthur and Titus Pullo in the HBO series Rome. He also portrayed supporting characters in a number of successful franchises, including G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and The Divergent Series.

The actor appeared in a few Marvel projects as well. He was cast as Frank Castle / The Punisher in Punisher: War Zone (2008) and then Volstagg in Thor and its two sequels: The Dark World and Ragnarok. His stage credits included York Mystery Plays (2000), Mouth to Mouth (2001), and The Duchess of Malfi (2003).

Later Career and Death

In 2022, Stevenson appeared in the Oscar-winning Indian film RRR as Governor Scott Buxton. He was also set to appear in the Star Wars series Ahsoka as Baylan Skoll. “Getting to wield the lightsaber is just the best feeling in the world. The first time they handed it to me for the camera test, I couldn’t help myself, I made the noise,” the star had said of his role.

In May 2023, Stevenson was working on Cassino on Ischia, being held by Frank Ciota. He was supposed to play an old action film star trying to revive his career in the movie. However, on May 21st, his publicist confirmed that the actor had died on the island of Ischia.
