Indian-American actor Ravi Patel will soon be joining the DC Universe! Patel has reportedly boarded the sequel to 2017’s “Wonder Woman.”
After the Gal Gadot-starrer become an instant hit, a sequel was pretty much confirmed right away. The film, titled “Wonder Woman 1984,” is currently being shot and brings back returning stars Gadot and Chris Pine along with new faces like Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal.
Details about Patel’s character are being kept under wraps but we are already excited to see an actor of South Asian descent in such a prominent film. Hopefully, his role will also reflect his South Asian heritage. Along with Patel, Gabriella Wilde was another recently announced addition to the cast.
Patel’s credits include comedies like “American Housewife,” “Grandfathered,” “Master of None,” “Wrecked,” and “The New Normal.”
His claim to fame was the documentary he made in collaboration with his sister Geeta Patel, an acclaimed director. “Meet the Patels” was an in-depth, often funny look at Patel’s search for a bride as his family kept setting him up with fellow Indian women. The documentary is available to stream on Netflix.
Patel is also the co-founder of the nutrition snack food called This Bar Saves Lives alongside actors Kristen Bell, Ryan Devlin, and Todd Grinnell. The proceeds for the bar goes towards helping kids who suffer from malnutrition.
Patel has an impressive list of TV credits and we’re excited to see him expand to film. “Wonder Woman 1984” is set for a November 2019 release.
