Da Brat is officially a mom now! The Chicago-born rapper and her wife Jesseca ‘Judy’ Harris-Dupart have welcomed their first child together. The two of them are proud new moms of a baby boy.
According to the latest report by People magazine, Da Brat gave birth to her newborn son on July 6, 2023, in Atlanta at 8:30p ET. At the time of his birth, the baby boy, weighed in at 7lbs, 8oz and measured 20 inches long.

The That’s What I’m Looking For singer Da Brat has welcomed her first child, a baby boy with wife Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart. The couple announced the amazing news on the social media platform Instagram on Friday.
“True Legend Harris-Dupart @truelegendhd was born 7/6/23 at 8:30pm coming it at 7k s 8oz , 20inches long and as PERFECT as ever 💖💖💖 we are overwhelmed with love, Very appreciative for such a blessing of our bundle of joy. This journey has been more amazing than we could’ve ever imagined,” they wrote in the caption of the post.
In the Instagram posts shared by the hip-hop icon and her ladylove, the pair shared a video of the moment of the birth as well. The footage also consisted of a series of photos of the couple holding their newborn baby boy True Legend.
While having a conversation with People magazine, the American rapper said, “I can’t BELIEVE he came out of me! Feels like a dream. He’s PERFECT in every way.” As for how mom is feeling: “Very appreciative for such a blessing of our bundle of joy,” she says. “This journey has been more amazing than we could’ve ever imagined.”
Da Brat whose real name is Shawntae Harris-Dupart also talked about her naming her little bundle of joy True and told the media outlet, “His name had been True Legend Harris-Dupart but now that we’ve met him we are tempted to name him PERFECT.”
When did Da Brat announce her first pregnancy?
For those of you who are unaware, let us share with you, Da Brat revealed that she had a baby on board earlier this year in February. Then, People magazine was the first to report the news.
At that point, the Funkdafied musician shared with the magazine, “I never thought I was going to have kids. I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me.”
Jesseca who has 3 kids chimed in and went on to say that she had to convince Brat to carry the newest member of their family. She said, “We had a little tug-o-war in the beginning…but I felt like she should have the experience. She is so nurturing.”
