Poldark Season 6 Will Not be Coming Back

Without a doubt, Poldark was a brilliant story. It has a total of five seasons, all of which were spectacularly successful. The show aired for the first time in 2015 and concluded in 2019. That, at least, is the viewers’ skepticism. If the series is over and won’t be renewed, or if there will be another season. Before we get started, let’s emphasize what Poldark was all about. Poldark is a British historical drama television series featuring Aidan Turner. And it’s centered on Winston Graham’s novels of the same name.

The story takes place between 1781 and 1801. And it chronicles the title character as he returns to Cornwall just after American Revolutionary War in 1783. When he returns home, he finds that his father Joshua has passed away, that his property is in shambles and is massively in debt, and that his childhood sweetheart Elizabeth has become engaged to his cousin Francis.

The plot follows the adventures of Ross and Demelza, Elizabeth and Francis, and George Warleggan as they struggle with their marriages, broken hearts, death, the birth of their children, and conflict throughout the course of five seasons. So, let’s dispel any doubts that viewers may have had about the upcoming season’s renewal or cancellation.

Poldark Season 6 – Renewed Or Cancelled?

The fifth and final season began filming in September 2018 and was aired in July 2019. On the 26th of August, 2019, the season’s final episode aired. The final series wraps up the narrative in 1801, nine years before the events of the eighth novel, The Stranger from the Sea. There will be no more seasons of Poldark; the show has come to an end, and it’s definitely not a good news.

The BBC also announced that a historical drama based on the Poldark novels would be produced for five seasons.”When we started Poldark, we aimed to complete the majority of the books that we could, which would likely take us up to series five,” stated lead star Turner of the drama.

Adding, “So during filming for this series there was a sense of completion and relief that we made it this far, that the show has been successful and that people enjoy watching it. Hitting that mark and returning for the fifth series was always the goal and we are proud to have achieved that.”

Why Did Poldark Come to an End?

Poldark’s creators decided to eliminate the show on a high note, according to numerous interviews with producers and cast members. “Writing the end of this final season was sad,” writer Debbie Horsfield said, “but the ending itself is uplifting.”

“We are trying to serve the story to the best of our ability and the story-line of Ross and Demelza would have a time jump we’d really battle with, and it is right to end the series now while it is so strong and while these characters are loved and not diminished in any way,” actress Eleanor Tomlinson, who plays Demelza, stated in an interview with Digital Spy.

“I feel very sad about it ending. I’m really going to miss the cast and crew and I’m really going to miss Aidan [Turner, who plays Ross Poldark],” she added. “We have a brilliant bond and a brilliant relationship and it is going to be very strange not going to work.”

Though it’s a tragedy that the series has come to an end, it was fantastic; if you miss it, you can catch up on prior seasons.

  1. So why not come out with the same type of series. If poldark was so successful and wel
l watched, don’t you think the new series would be as successful?

  2. I think another fresh team will cont the story in a few years … it’s to good not to cont the narrative so many plot lines to run away with so many historical characters to weave in esp the covert op that’s left us hanging with Napoleon ? , valentine , kitty , the new child for Ross & his side kick The good Dr, and George when’s he going to get over himself and can his nasty uncle boss man .. and that son who is with his grandma and the cahns new child loveday what a name .. hope I’ve lite a few sparks ..

  3. I have enjoyed this show so very much and was sadden to see that you were gonna end it with a fifth season. Please bring it back .i am sure there is lots more that can bee told.. a devoted fan…

  4. Have so enjoyed the show and am saddened to see it go. Please elaborate with the characters in a new series or seasons. So many story lines with the young characters yet to be seen. We need decent clean series to watch! Please…..

  5. Demelza crying absolutely slays me. Can’t think of another actress/character who just guts me like she does. And her extra-marital affair is one of the most exquisitely complex I’ve ever seen rendered on film. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

  6. I don’t get it, I’m watching it on Prime Video and it shows SIX seasons. It the 6th season just going to be a lot of behind the scenes garbage like on a DVD?

  7. I simply loved this show. I miss it so much. I have 23 episodes on my DVR and though they’re taking up a lot of space I refuse to erase them. There is so much more to be told. Your fans and especially me are eagerly waiting for Poldark to resume.

  8. There is still a lot of demand from the viewer’s. The story and cast members were amazing. The ending was so unfinished too many thing just left hanging, Ross walking away to his boat with Demelza standing on a cliff alone again. We need more, still so much more to see. The Poldark series captured hearts all around the world, please bring it back soon.

  9. I loved poldark its such a shame it ended I could watch it forever
Ross and Demelzer are great together I love them both such a shame we didn’t find out about the baby Demelzer was expecting, and what came of all the other children
I was intrested to see who valintine marred when he got older it would of been interesting it valentine was counting Rosss daughter or drake and mowheler daughter
    Please bring seris 6 back
    J. Fell.

  10. You know we were able to get the last Kingdom to do a movie by having a writing and fans becoming very very involved. I wonder if STARZ would consider
Taking on Poldark as one of their new shows and revamping it. After all outlander is a huge success and Poldark was a success and on Netflix the last Kingdom was a good success and now going to be a movie. If this is what customers want maybe stars need to consider taking the sign. And maybe we should contact stars and suggest it.

  11. I have enjoyed Poldark more than any other show I have seen. My wife didn’t mind hearing how much i admire Demelza for her growth, strength, and faith in her husband despite his few frailties. It would be grand if we could see this family grow into a future that brought more benefits for their sacrifices and hardships … so why not invest in something so deeply desirable. But please also have a pack of wolves attack George soon !
That would kill most of this family’s problems!

  12. I so agree with the above comment It would be wonderful.
So very very sad. I can’t believe we aren’t going to see any more Poldark after 5 seasons. It is one of the best series, on PBS. I’ m still fretting about it not continuing.

  13. I have just discovered this very entertaining show and will miss all the characters as I am finishing up on season five tonight! Please bring it back!

  14. Poldark is favorite show ever. I am in my 40’s, mother of twins who are both in sports, a stressful career, and watching Poldark is the highlight of my week. I just started season 5 and I just dread this coming to an end. Please give us more of Ross and Demelza! Give us a Poldark movie!

  15. I started watching the show Wednesday it’s now Friday 4am and I am done. I wished they hadn’t canceled the show. Well I think I will check out the books because books are always better than movies.

  16. Oh I just finished watching season 5. I binged it all and can’t believe this was the end, not only because it’s finished but because the ending is very strange of Ross and Dwight going to France and you don’t know what happens next. Oh how awful….:-(((

  17. I agree with all that has been said here. It
has been an enjoyable series. My strongest criticism is that the plot development is disrupted in the last episode because many of the obstacles are hastily and unsatisfactorily resolved i. e. the doctor and his wife, George and Ross’s enmity, etc etc. It’s as if either the producers got bored or ran Out of cash and we viewers are the losers! Very disappointed!

  18. We watch Poldark twice and would love to see more episodes.
The show really does transport you into the 1700’s and sometimes hard to come back to the reality of now.
The characters roles are portrayed brilliantly!
    What a great series.
