Ozark, the incredible Netflix crime drama series, is returning for a fourth season, one of the most eagerly awaited seasons in recent memory. The show was renewed for a fourth and final season in June 2020, with 14 episodes split into two sections that you should already be aware of.
Critics have complimented Ozark’s tone, performances, directing, and narrative, and it has gotten mostly excellent reviews. In essence, Ozark is centered on a money laundering operation for a Mexican drug cartel that goes horribly wrong, and financial planner Martin “Marty” Byrde wants to make amends by promising to set up a larger laundering operation in central Missouri Lake of the Ozarks region.
Marty’s family is unexpectedly relocated from Naperville, Illinois, to Osage Beach, Missouri, a secluded summer vacation hamlet. The Byrdes become enmeshed with local thugs, particularly the Langmore and Snell clans, and later the Kansas City Mafia, when they settle in Missouri. This is the entire series’ mini narrative, albeit the series has a lot of twists and turns that keep the viewers interested.
Ozark Season 4 Production Updates
Now that we know what Ozark is about for those who aren’t familiar with it, we also know that a fourth season is already in the process. Let’s go over the updates in greater detail. The fourth season of Ozark started filming on November 9, 2020, and will wrap on October 8, 2021. In addition, Season 4’s opening episode is titled “The Beginning of the End.”
Recently, the director of Ozark, Armanda Marsalis, posted an on-set photo on her official Instagram account, captioning it as. “On set of Ozark, nearly done with the 4 episodes I’m grateful to be directing this season 1. 1 episode left after for this for the cast and crew. Going to miss everyone so so much.” This implies she’s almost finished with the four episodes she’s directing for Ozark’s final season.
More Problems for Byrdes
“A super-sized season means super-sized problems for the Byrdes,” Jason Bateman explained. Also, Chris Munday, the showrunner, offered some thoughts on Netflix’s decision to let the series finish.
“We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving #Ozark more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right.”
Mundy informed The Hollywood Reporter before the news surfaced that they had “always talked about it as a five-seasons.”
“It could be four, it could be seven… that always seemed like a good number to us,” he added. However, he did state that “there are people in bigger chairs than mine make those decisions,” and we now have assurance that it will be only 4 seasons.
On June 15th, Charlie Tahan shared a photo with some of the other cast members on Instagram.
Ozark Season 4 Release Date Updates
So yet, there hasn’t been any announcement on when Ozark Season 4 will be released. Season 4 of Ozark is scheduled to conclude it’s production on October 8, 2021. Perhaps we expect that the release date will be announced before the end of 2021. And we will be able to watch the fantastic season in early 2022 (1st half) and another later.
In an interview with Collider just before the season 4 announcement, Jason Bateman shared some interesting details about the production and what that implies for season 4. He explained that each episode takes approximately eleven days to shoot, with two weeks of prep time beforehand.
To shoot a complete season, it takes about six months of production time. Of course, with a lengthier season, this will take longer. But that doesn’t mean part 1 can’t come out while part 2 is being finalized.
While you wait for the release of Ozark Season 4 to be announced, you might watch other similar shows in the meantime.
