About the UMA – Urban Music Awards
It has been a long-standing tradition that R&B, Hip-Hop, Soul, and Dance Music have been recognized worldwide with the Urban Music Awards. In the U.S., UK, France, the Caribbean, and Japan, the Urban Music Awards ceremony is held annually, with plans to expand to Asia, Dubai, and Africa in the coming years.
There was a need in the industry to create a worldwide award ceremony that would recognize and honor the achievements of urban-based artists and producers, club nights, DJs, radio stations, record labels, and artists in the current dance/R&B, HipHop, Neo Soul, Jazz, and dance music scene, and therefore the Urban Music Awards were born.
Undoubtedly, the Urban Music Awards has established itself as a well-respected awards ceremony. However, since this project was launched, we have been leaving all nominations and voting to the general public.
Several international media outlets, including BBC World Service, CNN, MTV, BET, VH1, BBC Radio 1, BBC Entertainment Online, BBC Entertainment Online, Invincible TV, Evening Standard, The Metro Newspaper, The Independent, The Guardian, Channel 4, CD: UK, London Tonight, Choice FM, New Nation, The Voice, have covered the prestigious awards ceremony over the past ten years.
On February 28, VooVix TV will broadcast Urban Music Awards 2023, which will air on the channel. It is now possible to cast your vote for the 19th annual Urban Music Awards, and the polls will close on February 20, 2019. This year’s nominations are listed on the official website; you can find the complete list of nominees there. Please stay tuned for more updates about the UMA as they become available.
