Nik Dodani joins the cast of the “Murphy Brown” reboot as a regular. The hit CBS show from 1988 is being revived with a modern version of its original story. Golden Globe-winning actress Candice Bergen will return to the show as the title character, Murphy and Jake McDorman has been roped in as her adult son, Avery.
Avery is a quick-witted journalist with the same spirit as his mother and Dodani will play Pat, the social media director that helps Murphy and the group into the 21st century.
The original “Murphy Brown” was about a tough and witty investigative journalist on a news show for the fictional magazine FYI. The show touched on political satire and regularly incorporated the current cultural climate. Led by the 1988 show’s original creator, Diana English, and Warner Bros., the revival of this popular show will bring back many of its original cast members like Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto and Grant Shaud. The trio will reprise their roles as Murphy’s rival, co-worker and friend, and, her annoying young producer.
Dodani is an actor and comedian known for his role of Zahid on Netflix’s show, “Atypical.” He’s also been on shows like “Angie Tribeca,” “Idiotsitter,” “The Player,” and “Enemies of Dorothy.” Dodani will also be seen in the upcoming films, “Alex Strangelove,” “The Maze,” and “Behold My Heart.”
