Netflix has announced season 2 of Bastard: Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy to life anime. The series will return with 15 new episodes in 2023. Warner Bros. Japan made the announcement on Monday for the upcoming season 2, which will be available on Netflix. The title of this season will be Bastard!! Ankoku no Hakaishin: Jigoku no Chinkonka-hen
What Did the Teaser Reveal?
The first part of the anime came with 13 episodes and premiered on Netflix on 30th June worldwide. The second part was released on 15th September with episodes 14 to 24.
The official announcement for the second season of the anime came in a just 60-second-long video. The promotional video just discussed all the events previously happened.
The teaser also sets up the upcoming Requiem of Hell arc. In the first few scenes, A unknown city on fire is shown while an army is invading the city through the streets. All the heroes are shown fighting back against this army. The trailer primarily focuses on the protagonist Dark Schneider, his alter ego or host Lucien Renlen, and his caretaker, Tia Noto Yoko.
The official synopsis on Netflix suggests the series: “When evil forces threaten to resurrect Anthrasax, the God of Destruction, the Kingdom of Meta-llicana calls on a volatile dark wizard for help.”
The Cast of Season 2
The core cast will return for season 2 of Netflix’s the Bastard anime. The primary cast follows:
- Kisho Taniyama as Dark Schneider.
- Tomori Kusunoki as Tia Noto Yoko.
- Hiroki Yasumoto as Gara.
- Yōko Hikasa as Arshes Nei.
However, some new cast members will join the team as well.
- Takuma Terashima as Joshua Berahia.
- Sho Hayami as Nils John Mifune.
- Junichi Suwabe as Yngwei von Mattström.
- Koji Yusa as Zion Sol Vanderverg.
The Producer’s Reaction to Season 2 Announcement
The Production team also responded to their return to season 2. The Producer of the series, Tsuruoka spoke: “The story goes well beyond the story depicted in the additional episodes.”
He also added: “This storyline was the most popular in the manga actually. A lot of new characters make an appearance, and we also get to see the fateful showdown between Dark Schneider and Kall-Su. In order to deliver every detail of this part of the story, Hell’s Requiem will consist of 15 episodes.”
The producer also gave away how much the production has progressed. He said: “Production actually started a while back, so we’ve recorded a lot of it already.”
The original manga, “BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy” first came in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1988. The latest chapter of the manga was released in July 2017.
But the fans’ concerns are that the series will be remained unfinished, as the author Kazushi Hagiwara has vision problems have worsened with his growing age. Viz Media released up to the 19th volume of the manga in English. But they have now discontinued the 20th volume. Back in 1992, a six-episode original video anime came.
Takaharu Ozaki is returning to direct season 2 of Bastard‼ Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy following the first season. Netflix will again collaborate with Warner Bros. Japan Anime for the second season of the series.
