Well, almost everyone knows that the South Korean TV show ‘Squid Game’ has created a sensation owing to its huge popularity. The series which made its debut on streaming platform Netflix last month has been breaking the records in terms of its viewers.

Netflix has reportedly shelled out $21.4 million on Squid Game. Squid Game is a nine-episode series. As such to be more precise, the streaming platform has spent just $2.4 million for every episode.

Well, this is a relatively small amount that Netflix had to incur for a show which is the biggest hit show on the planet right now.
This amount is less in comparison to that spent by Netflix on its other popular existing shows like “Stranger Things” and “The Crown.”
When this sum is compared to that spent for other shows on Netflix’s rival streaming platforms like Disney+ and Amazon Prime, even then it is small.

Speaking about the historical drama – The Crown, the streaming giant had to shell out $10-$13 million per episode while Stranger Things is paid $8-$12 million for every episode.
Also, the estimated sum that the Fantasy series The Witcher got paid for its first season is around $70-80 million, which amounts to roughly $10 million per episode.
Well recently, Squid Game has surpassed UK romantic drama series Bridgerton in terms of its viewer count by touching 111 million views in just 27 days of its launch. Bridgerton reportedly gets paid $7 million per episode.
Disney+ on the other hand spends a bit bigger amounts on its selected shows whose budgets can even be compared to those of films.
For a single episode of The Mandalorian, it spends $15 million whereas it shells out a huge sum of $25 million for WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
“Squid Game” which was originally released on 17th September has now become the biggest original debut series on Netflix.
Squid Game is a nine-episode thriller from South Korean filmmaker Hwang Dong-hyuk having a total runtime of 8 hours and 12 minutes. In just a week of its release, the show has become one of the most-watched shows on Netflix in a number of regional markets.
Squid Game has become the first Netflix show to cross the 100-million mark in just four weeks of the launch.
Squid Game has touched the feat of topping the list of Netflix’s Top 10 shows in 94 countries worldwide.
