An agreement signed between NBA YoungBoy and Motown Records has given him a new lease on life in the world of music.
Baton Rouge’s Superstar leaves Atlantic Records, where he released four studio albums, for Motown Records, which has released 25 studio albums.
With Motown, Youngboy Never Broke Again Has Signed A Deal
According to reports, the Baton Rouge rapper plans to release music through Motown in 2023. Upon contacting a YoungBoy representative, Complex could confirm the signing. This news comes on the heels of his announcement last year that he would form a joint venture with Motown Records and launch a group called Never Broke Again.
During that time, YoungBoy said, “I felt that I had a duty to my artists to make sure that I found the best partner for my label, and I felt like I had a responsibility to them.”. “I’m looking forward to working with Ethiopia, Kenoe, and Motown Records.”
YB teamed up with DJ Drama to release ‘Ma I Got a Family,’ which marks the sixth offering from NBA YoungBoy this year, following Colors, The Last Slimeto, Better Than You, Realer 2, and 3800 Degrees. YoungBoy announced a few months ago that he would release four more albums before the year 2023 after releasing the 19-track LP.
He Inked A Global Venture Deal With Motown In 2021
Since YB has already teamed up with Motown, this move shouldn’t surprise you. A global venture deal was signed between Never Broke Again and Motown in 2021, resulting in the production of Never Broke Again: The Compilation Volume 1 (2021) and Green Flag Activity (2022).
In addition to Nightmare on 38th Street, another group compilation titled Nightmare on 38th Street is also in the pipeline for this Friday. Having signed his new contract, it seems that NBA YoungBoy will carry the momentum he has built in the past few years into 2023.
The flurry of projects he has dropped over the past month has been accompanied by the news that his manager is planning a tour. YB may not have been able to travel due to his legal issues, but he and his team are looking forward to when he will no longer be under house arrest. This is something that hopefully aligns with his 2023 plans, so let’s hope it happens.
About NBA YoungBoy
Known by his stage name NBA YoungBoy, Kentrell DeSean Gaulden is an American rapper who first burst onto the scene in 2016 as one of the most promising stars of the current generation of rappers. In his early years, Gaulden developed a keen interest in rapping and recording. In 2015, at 16, he released his debut album, inspired by local artists.
Immediately after, he released the trilogy Mind of a Menace. His career was on the rise, and everything seemed perfect until he was arrested on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder. NBA YoungBoy, however, didn’t take it easy. Instead, he immersed himself deeply into his music career, not stopping at any point.
The release of his hit singles while in prison overshadowed the uncertainty around the future of his burgeoning career. As a result of Win or Lose, he became an overnight sensation. He charted at different positions on Billboard Hot 100 with hits such as Untouchables, No Smoke, and Outside Today.
