Season 6 Episode 17: Recap
The episode began with the Todoroki family in Endeavor’s hospital room to discuss Toya. In a flashback, Endeavor visits the Himura family to ask them to marry off their daughter Rei with him.
For Endeavour, this marriage is a way to have stronger kids that would pass All Might, the No.1 hero. He wants to fulfill his vision of having a kid with a fire and ice quirk. Toya, Endevor’s eldest child, wants to do everything to please his father and aims to surpass All Might and fulfill his father’s dream.
Endeavor and Rei visit a Doctor who informs them that Toya must stop using his Quirk as his flames are hurting his body. Endeavor realizes that Toya will never be able to fulfill his dream.
Furthermore, he decides to have more children giving birth to Fuyumi, Natsuno, and Shoto. This further makes Toya feel abandoned as Shoto is born with the perfect combination of quirks that Endeavor desired.
In a fit of rage, Toya attacks Shoto to gain his father’s attention. However, Endeavor decides to keep Shoto isolated from his siblings to strengthen him through training. After the incident, Toya starts feeling even more detached from his parents. Toya secretly trains at a nearby mountain. Meanwhile, when he reaches puberty, Toya’s flame turns blue and even more powerful.
Excited to show his father the new development, Toya asks Endeavor to meet him at the mountain. This further angers Endeavor as Toya is hurting himself by using his Quirk. Endeavor blames and abuses his wife for not caring for Toya.
Rei, who is already in a fragile state of mind, ends up hurting Shoto and is sent to a quarantine facility. However, Toya, unable to take his father’s rejection, losses control of his power and burns the whole forest.
At The End
Rei and the children take responsibility for Toya and his obsession. At the same time, Best Jeanist and Hawks enter the room after overhearing the conversation and decide to take care of Toya together. They further encourage Endeavor to stand up and take care of his responsibility as a Hero. Hawks enquire more about All for One and its origin. Suddenly Endeavor realizes that Deku must know more about it. Hawks and Best Jeanist decide to meet Deku. The episode ends with All Might sitting beside Deku.
