Mindy Kaling’s latest project has been picked up by Hulu! The creator, executive producer and star of “The Mindy Project” is working on a new series inspired by the 1994 British romantic comedy “Four Weddings and a Funeral.”
Kaling’s adaptation of the original film also follows a group of friends as they reflect on their lives through these five events. In the original film, the story follows Charles and Carrie, played by Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell, and their group of friends. This couple continues to meet throughout the years at different points in their lives at 4 different weddings of friends and a funeral of another.
Matt Warburton will be executive producing the show along with Kaling, Jonathan Prince, Howard Klein for 3 Arts, and Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner for Working Title. The executive producer of the original film, Richard Curtis is also on board for this new adaptation. This new project is the reunion of Hulu and Kaling since the run of her show “The Mindy Project” which aired its last seasons on the streaming website.
Aside from the limited series coming to Hulu, Kaling found success with his last project, “A Wrinkle in Time,” she even got her own Barbie! Kaling is currently working on her NBC comedy “Champions,” and promoting the release of her upcoming film, “Ocean’s 8” which releases June 8.
