‘Mayfair Witches’ Star Alexandra Daddario Talks About Real-Life Ghost Presence During Shoot

American actress Alexandra Anna Daddario, who received critical acclaim for “The White Lotus” appeared on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and shared details about her upcoming AMC series “Mayfair Witches”, which is based on the Anne Rice novel series Lives of the Mayfair Witches. As she indulged in some ghostly conversations with Kelly, Alexandra revealed a real-life encounter with a ghost.

Working On Mayfair Witches…

Alexandra Daddario, known for the “Percy Jackson” film series, appeared on “The Kelly Clarkson Show”, and was asked about her new show, “Mayfair Witches”. Alexandra stated: “It’s about a girl, she is a doctor surgeon and she finds out that she is a witch and she belongs to a different family.” She continued, “She was adopted and then she finds out that she’s part of this family called the “Mayfairs”.

Speaking about her roles as Dr Rowan Fielding, she explains: “It’s quite amazing to do a role like this coz it really is sort of a metaphor for life. Like when you’re going through huge transitions, how do you handle it? Only this person’s transition is that she has these powers, and how do you control them.”

The upcoming supernatural series is created by Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford. The series is set to premiere on AMC on Jan. 8, 2022, and is based on the novel trilogy “Lives of the Mayfair Witches” by Anne Rice.

When I Almost Felt A Supernatural

Alexandra Daddario was asked by Kelly Clarkson, “Have you ever experienced anything supernatural in your life?” Alexandra revealed, “I haven’t personally but I do think there are some things like is that a coincidence or how did that? There’s a lot of magic in the world in that way.”

However, she added an instance where she was shooting a film in Louisiana and was in a little town outside of a place called Shreveport. “One of the members of the crew, a girl, starts crying outside of a house where we were shooting,” she explained. She said, “I can’t go in there.” The girl revealed that there is a woman in the corner of the room saying, “What are you all doing in my house? Get out of my house.”

Alexandra revealed that she wouldn’t come to work and later we found out that the husband, the owner of the house told them that his wife passed away in that room. “And there was no way for her to know about it,” Alexandra mentioned. But again, even though she didn’t see the ghost, it always creeps the hell out of her and she never found an explanation for it. Kelly joked, “I always speak out, please don’t show yourself to me because I think I will die.”

On the other hand, Daddario previously revealed how she believes in ghosts and got involved in the studies of the supernatural. She said that to prepare for the role in “Mayfair Witches”, she dove into reading about the late author.

“That was incredibly helpful in developing the character. I think [the show] is about the relationship between good and evil, and who we are, and what a woman’s place in the world is,” she said. “And how no matter what kind of power you have, are people jealous of that? Are people wanting a piece of you? Can you still be a mess and be together at the same time?”

“This is a very complex character,” she said. “I was intrigued by Anne’s relationship with the world around her. She lost a child at a young age. She was in and out of the church but really believed in God. She also believed in ghosts [and] she got involved in studies of the supernatural. That helped me understand these stories and the out-there nature of a lot of them. She wrote erotic novels; I didn’t know that.”

As for her marriage, she got married to her producer husband, Andrew Form this year, while shooting in New Orleans. “First, we were going to get married in Italy, and then we happened to be shooting there [in New Orleans]. And I didn’t think I wanted to be jet-lagged while shooting the show and getting married at the same time,” she said.

“So, I was like, ‘Let’s just get married in New Orleans, I love it here.’ Maybe everyone will get drunk and think the party was a lot more fun than it was! We sort of threw it together in a month or two. I still think I didn’t invite enough people. But I just thought it was a great city to get married in. It was so special, she explained in a previous interview about her marriage.” Well, Daddario may not have seen a ghost but she very much believes in them.

As for her career, Kelly revealed that she’s watched Daddario since she was a kid, “Some people are like, Oh, my god she’s so good. Do you feel like it’s been a long road to having that moment? Like a “White Lotus” moment”, Kelly asked about her success on the show.

Daddario revealed, “yea, I mean I think I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my career, I mean like this career, or in any career, so I feel that in a way that I have been discovered over and over and over, it’s cool, but there’s always that, and I think with the Emmy nomination with “The White Lotus”, it’s like overnight being discovered.” Well, Daddario feels it’s about doing what you love and doing it for the right reasons.
