Henry Cavill Confirming His Departure From Man of Steel 2
On his Instagram, Henry Cavill confirmed his departure from all of the projects at DCU. The actor wrote: “I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.”
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. actor confirmed that he had a meeting with DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. Cavill also confirmed recent changes with the studio are going in a different direction. He added: “The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.”
At the end of his post, he thanked fans who supported him for his return. But he surely waved goodbye to his favorite superhero with a heartfelt note. He finished by writing: “Superman is still around. Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there! My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will. It’s been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards.”
Henry Cavill’s Journey as Superman
Rumors of Henry Cavill’s not returning as Superman had been in discussion before Black Adam hit the theatres. Fans were demanding Cavill’s return as Superman for a long time.
After all, It was Henry Cavill starring Man of Steel that kick-started the DC’s cinematic universe under Zack Snyder’s direction. Cavill’s Superman returned again in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice where Ben Affleck starring Batman had a fight with the Man of Steel.
Superman extended cameo happened in the Justice League. He again returned in the Justice League Snyder Cut.
Other than these, Superman made a cameo in the Shazam movie where Cavill’s stunt double played the role of the iconic character.

As Henry has announced his departure from DCU, new reports suggest that Warner Bros. is in search of a new, young actor to play in a new Man of Steel movie.
James Gunn has recently responded to a fan’s query, and he explained the importance of Superman in the DCU’s new direction. Gunn wrote: “Yes of course. Superman is a huge priority, if not the biggest priority.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, James Gunn is writing a new Superman film. The movie will feature Clark Kent’s younger days with a new face other than Henry Cavill.
