Madonna stood out in the crowd at the Grammy 2023, courtesy of her all-black androgynous look. The Queen Of Pop, made a surprise appearance at the Crypto.com Arena to introduce Sam Smith and Kim Petras and became a victim of “ageist and misogynist’ comments. Madonna being the classic Madonna, came forward to slam all the haters, who’ve been trolling her for her Grammys appearance.
To All Those Who Mocked Her Face…
Madonna’s androgynous look at the 2023 Grammy Awards raised the brows of several social media users, as they came forward to express their confusion, mostly about her face. As people brutally told with mean tweets, the Queen of Pop finally came forward to shut down the haters for their “ageist and misogynist comments”.
For instance, one fan posted a close-up picture of her face and tweeted: “This legit looks like a Madonna impersonator with pics of the [sic] real Madonna in the background. She really f–ked up her face.”
While sharing a backstage video montage of the 2023 Grammys, she expressed about the honor of introducing Kim Petras and Sam Smith at the ceremony. The “Like a Prayer” artist revealed that the final award for Album of the Year held significance.
Madonna told her fans that Kim Petras was the first trans woman to perform on the Grammys stage. Moreover, Kim also created history by becoming the first trans woman to win Grammys for the category of best pop group/duo performance alongside Sam Smith. However, her post came along with a lot of frustration.
In her video montage, Madonna expressed her frustration against those, who instead of talking about her speech, trolled her brutally for her Grammys look. Madonna was seen wearing a black button-down blazer which included a structural collar, and corseted bodice and slant pockets.
Below, the artist donned a white button-down shirt, tie and a long, neat black pleated maxi skirt. She also wore blue-coloured seven inches platform heels to elevate the look at the star-studded ceremony. Alongside her video montage on IG, Madonna wrote in the caption:
“It was an honor for me to Introduce Kim Petras and Sam Smith at the Grammys. I had wanted to give the last award which was Album of the year, but I thought it was more important that I present the first trans-woman performing at the Grammys— a History making moment!! And on top of that, she won a Grammy!!
Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone’s face!!”
‘Misogyny and Ageism’ Of The Society…
While expressing her frustration about the online remarks, Madonna expressed in her IG post caption that the criticism of her look is rooted in the misogyny and ageism’ of society. She wrote: “Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women pass [sic] the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong-willed, hard-working and adventurous.”
Madonna may have highlighted the biggest issues of the world whilst her frustration. While stating that society never celebrated women after the age of 45 and punishes them for being adventurous and hardworking, most celebrities felt her words. Using Beyoncé’s words ‘You won’t break my soul’, she concluded that she wouldn’t break down to society and would live her life on her terms. What do you think about this issue?
