Madonna Biopic Got Shelved As She Gears Up For World Tour

A report claims that Universal has put Madonna’s upcoming biopic on hold, which had been in development for over a year.

During the past two years, the singer has teased the release of a movie based on her life. Last year, she confirmed that she would be directing the project herself and confirmed that she would be teasing the release of the movie.

Madonna’s World Tour Caused The Biopic To Be Postponed

To prepare for a massive world tour, Madonna has reportedly halted production on a biopic based on her life and career. Despite years of preparation for the highly anticipated film, it was reported Tuesday that the 64-year-old singer would not be able to participate in the production as she is too busy preparing for her upcoming “Celebration” tour later in the year.

Even though multiple A-list actors had vied for the chance to play the iconic role, sources told the publication that the film was scrapped at Universal Pictures and was no longer in production. A source said that Julia Garner had been offered the Material Girl role, beating out competitors such as “Don’t Worry Darling” star Florence Pugh, “Euphoria” starlet Alexa Demie, actress Odessa Young, and singer Bebe Rexha.

It is reported that the women competing for the position were required to attend a boot camp-like session to determine whether they had what it takes for the role. In a recent report, there was a rumor that Julia Fox was one of the contenders for the position of Madonna’s best friend and lover, Debi Mazar.

Her Career Would Be Memorialized On-Screen By The Singer

To put a spotlight on her rise to pop superstardom, Madge herself was supposed to direct the on-screen commemoration of her career. However, despite the Queen of Pop’s previous claims that she wanted to create a great movie, she wrote a comprehensive script for the biopic she penned.

When she was talking in July of last year, she said, “I’ve had an extraordinary life, I must make an extraordinary film. It was also a preemptive strike because a lot of people were trying to make movies about me. Mostly misogynistic men. So I put my foot in the door and said, ‘No one’s going to tell my story, but me!’”

Currently, There Are Several New Songs In The Works From The Queen Of Pop

To get back to the sounds that made her a household name in the first place, the “Vogue” hitmaker recently partnered with Warner Music Group. This was followed in August last year by “Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones,” the first in a series of releases.

There was a wide selection of her well-known tunes included on this album, including “Holiday,” “Material Girl,” “Frozen,” “Into the Groove,” “Everybody,” and “Open Your Heart.”

The Grammy Award-winning musician will travel to 35 cities worldwide to celebrate her 40-year career as an artist on her upcoming tour, which she announced last week. Ticket sales are starting to sell out for the Grammy-winning artist, who will begin her term on July 15 in Vancouver and continue her tour across North America and Europe until her shows conclude on Dec. 1 – and tickets are running out fast.

“I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” said a statement released by the singer.

There is a reason why Madonna is focusing on her show now, and she wants to make a movie about her life that will last forever. So, here’s to hoping there will be a next step regarding the biopic shortly. We will keep you updated on the latest gossip from the entertainment world, so stay tuned for more exciting updates.
