Lets Meet The Cast of Obi-Wan Kenobi

The Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries has piqued our interest. The plot tends to revolve around Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine ten years after the incident of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005).

In which the Jedi Order was destructed by Order 66 and his former apprentice Anakin Skywalker has become the Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Kenobi continues to live a quiet life in banishment on Tatooine. Darth Vader has established the Sith Inquisitors scheme, a group of Dark Side Force users tasked with chasing down any Jedi who made it out alive Order 66.

Kenobi later departs Tatooine for an amazing journey. What’s more amazing than the show’s incredible narrative? Members of their cast. Let us discuss it today.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Cast List

We’ve heard a lot about the show, but don’t we recognize some of its cast members? Let’s take a closer look at their characters in the show. However, their appearance gives us flashbacks.

Ewan McGregor As Obi-Wan Kenobi

Let’s begin with the lead one. The one we definitely need to talk about. It’s none other than Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi. We’re all familiar with Obi-Wan.

Kenobi is a Jedi Master who made it out alive in Order 66 and now continues to live in exile on the planet Tatooine as ‘Ben,’ watching over young Luke Skywalker. His characters are the whole point of this incredible miniseries.

You’ll be glad to know that McGregor was excited about playing a version of the character. Especially that was pretty close to Alec Guinness’s depiction from the initial Star Wars trilogy than his own mini version from the prequel trilogy, with Obi-Wan being “rather broken, and faithless, and beaten, [having] somewhat given up” at the start of the series.

Ewan is well-known for his multiple appearances. Ewan’s first professional role was in the British Channel 4 installment Lipstick on Your Collar in 1993. He then rose to international prominence as heroin addict Mark Renton in the drama movies Trainspotting.

But the list of accomplishments does not end there. In the Star Wars prequel trilogy (1999–2005), he portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi and that was another massive success.

Being a successful actor certainly helps with the accolades. He managed to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie in 2021 for his role as fashion designer Halston in the Netflix miniseries Halston. To be honest, Ewan deserved it.

Hayden Christensen As Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader

Drum rolls, please. Next, we’ve Hayden Christensen in the portrayal of Anakin Skywalker.

He played the dad of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, as well as Obi-former Wan’s Jedi Padawan and companion who succumbed to the darkness and became a Sith Lord. Acting is a challenging profession, and the things actors do to get into character are admirable.

This is most likely the case with Hayden. Christensen rewatched the Skywalker Saga movies, as well as the animated version of The Clone Wars (2008–2020) and Rebels (2014–2018), after not playing the character since 2005. Fortunately, Hayden was “very excited to come back.”

But you remember him from somewhere, right?

The majority of people acknowledge Hayden as Sam. He received Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for his performance as Sam in Life as a House (2001). But that’s not it. Where’s the international fame?

Christensen rose to international prominence as Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader in the Star Wars prequel trilogy movies, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. What a career!

Rupert Friend As The Grand Inquisitor

How can we miss the Grand Inquisitor? Rupert Friend appears to be playing a member of the Pau’an species who is the Galactic Empire’s highest-ranking Inquisitor and a former Jedi Order member and Jedi Temple Guard.

The actor did have several things to express about his character. According to Friend, the personality enjoys the tone of his own voice and believes himself to be on par with Darth Vader, truly wishing to substitute him as Emperor Palpatine’s apprentice if the chance presents.

Despite this, they stayed faithful to the original characterization.

You’re probably wondering where you’ve seen Rupert. Well, the actor’s career started with good luck. Entering the entertainment industry and immediately receiving recognition and awards is something that only a talented individual can do.

Rupert rose to prominence with appearances in The Libertine (2004) and Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont (2005), both of which earned him best newcomer awards.

Friend has also directed, screenplay, and/or produced two award-winning short movies. And he has a bunch of accolades in his name.

Moses Ingram As Reva Sevander/The Third Sister

Ingram played a ruthless, ambitious Inquisitor who works together with the Grand Inquisitor and Darth Vader to attain a common purpose.

Joby Harold, the show’s creator, thought Reva would “contribute to the legacy of Star Wars villains in a really interesting way,” while Ingram called her a “full-on athlete” and absolutely fearless.

You’ve most likely seen her on one of the most well-known shows. Okay, enough with the suspense. Ingram rose to prominence as Jolene in the Netflix miniseries The Queen’s Gambit (2020). That’s when her career kickstarted.

Joel Edgerton As Owen Lars

Edgerton plays Anakin Skywalker’s stepbrother and Luke’s step-uncle, a moisture farmer on Tatooine who is skeptical of Obi-Wan’s protection and desires involvement with Luke.

The actor has appeared in the Star Wars movies Attack of the Clones (2002), Revenge of the Sith (2005), and The Last Jedi (2006). Edgerton won the AACTA Award for Best Lead Actor in a Television Drama for his role as Will McGill in the drama series The Secret Life of Us (2001–02). The actor has appeared in a number of Australian movies too.

Edgerton received additional widespread praise for his portrayal of Richard Loving in the 2016 historical drama Loving, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.

Bonnie Piesse As Beru Whitesun Lars

The actress plays Luke Skywalker’s step-aunt and surrogate mother. Beru is Owen’s girlfriend in Attack of the Clones and wife in Revenge of the Sith, where the two take custody of the infant Luke at the end of the latter.

At the age of 15, she had her breakthrough role as a trapeze artist in the Australian children’s television series High Flyers.

Soon after, George Lucas handpicked her for the involvement of a young Beru Lars in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

Kumail Nanjiani As Haja Estree

A street-level con artist who “can talk people into stuff” and “con people for money” on Daiyu’s sidewalks.

He just focuses on his own continued existence and is ultimately forced to make a difficult decision after becoming involved in a major conflict and meeting Obi-Wan. Kumail is best known for his portrayal of Dinesh in the HBO comedy series Silicon Valley. The actor has appeared in a number of successful projects.

Along with that, we’ve other members too.

  • Sung Kang As The Fifth Brother – An Inquisitor
  • Benny Safdie As Nari – Best described as a Jedi living on Tatooine
  • Simone Kessell As Breha Organa – Bail Organa’s wife and Leia’s adopted mother.

Quite a list, right? What are your thoughts on the show’s characters? You are welcome to leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
