Laura Benanti Talks About Her Miscarriage During A Recent Broadway Performance On Cruise

Tony Award-winning actress, Laura Benanti recently shared a horrific experience with her fans, and it’s heart-wrenching. While sharing a photo taken from onboard The Broadway Cruise’s voyage from New York to Bermuda, the 43-year-old actress revealed about her miscarriage during the onstage performance. Here’s everything she expressed in her post:

Benanti Suffered A Miscarriage On Cruise

Laura Benanti, who played Louis in the 2008 Broadway revival of Gypsy, recently poured her heart out in front of her fans after suffering a brutal incident during an onstage performance.

She opened up about her pregnancy loss in a heartfelt Instagram post Wednesday (April 5), and wrote: “On Monday, April 3rd, I performed on stage for 2000 people while having a miscarriage. I knew it was happening.

“It started slowly the night before. If it had been our first loss or even our second, I likely wouldn’t have been able to go on. But unfortunately, I am not a stranger to the pain and emptiness of losing a pregnancy,” Benanti continued.

Laura revealed that she is not a stranger to the pain and emptiness of losing a pregnancy. “It is a path I have walked before, hand in hand with my husband,” she added. However, this time, the couple walked it alongside some of the “kindest, most loving humans I will ever have the honour to share space with”. She expressed how her husband supported her throughout this time.

Audience Comes First…

Despite her trauma, the talented Broadway artist expressed gratitude for her audience, whose presence brought grace. “For lifting me out of my grief for that Holy hour. Thank you to my band for holding me, unconditionally, in your hearts, and to the crew for working so hard to make me as comfortable as possible,” Laura wrote emotionally.

She also thanked her friends and fellow performers for being around her and accommodating her changing needs. In addition to this, she also thanked the producers and the team who “could give a masterclass on how to handle a personal emergency” with compassion.

In the end, the 43-year-old actress thanks her family, including her “remarkable” mother-in-law and father-in-law for shielding her daughter from the reality of what the couple experiences and “giving her the time of her life while Mama’s back hurt”. She expressed a deep love for her children for providing her strength.

She concluded by expressing love for her husband, Patrick Brown, who stood by her side in these tough times. “Thank you to that little soul for choosing me as your home, even for a short time,” she expressed deeply.

“My husband and I are heartbroken but we will move through this together as we, and so many others, have done before. I share all of this, not to garner sympathy or attention, but to remind the many people and families who have and will suffer in this way that there is no shame in this kind of loss,” she concluded. She mentioned at the end of her touching more, “my hand in yours”.

Thanks, Audience, Crew, Friends & Family!

Almost anyone could cry after reading Laura’s touching words she used to express her grief. Losing a child is a mother’s worst nightmare and it takes ages to heal. In these troubled times, fans and celebrities came forward to show support.

“It was a wonder to behold ❤️❤️❤️,” one fan wrote. Kristin Chenoweth wrote, “aura. I’m so sorry. Everyone who knows you loves you. You’re an angel on this earth. You are the toughest person I know. Sending God’s love to your fam.” Expressed fellow theatre star Lindsay Heather Pearce, “Love to you, warmth to you, and comfort in these days to come 💛🙏🏻.”

One fan mentioned, “Thank you SO much for sharing this story, Laura. Every time a woman does, I feel a little less alone in the world. I love you so so so much.” Another wrote, “Sending love and Light to you and your family. 🤍 Your transparency in sharing this helps so many. Love you!”

The “No Hard Feelings” star shares an 8-month-old daughter with her husband, Patrick Brown. The couple welcomed the child via surrogacy. Before him, she married twice. Benanti tied the knot with Chris Barron in 2005 but got divorced in just one year. She married Steven Pasquale in 2007 and got divorced in 2013.

If you don’t know this, Benanti first revealed in 2015 her experience with pregnancy loss and the difficulty in speaking about the experience with others. In 2015, she called the topic of miscarriage the “Voldemort of women’s issues.”

“Why, if my neighbour sees me looking sad and asks me if I am okay, is it perfectly acceptable to tell her my aunt passed away, or I lost my job, or I had to put my dog down,” she expressed on social media

“But if I tell her I experienced a miscarriage, I am somehow inappropriately oversharing? My purpose in writing this is simply to say, if you are part of this sisterhood, you are not alone, she continued. Perhaps, this is Benanti’s second miscarriage. We wish strength and courage to the tough couple!
