Oscar nominee Kristen Stewart is all set to make her directional debut with The . The movie will be headlined by Imogen Poots.
The film will be an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir by the same name, It is believed that Ridley Scott will produce the movie under his banner Scott Free.
What Is The Movie About?
The memoir is a beautiful lyrical journey that shows how art saved a life. It shows how a young woman found herself through the written word and by becoming a swimmer. She went on to become a triumphant teacher, a mother and also a celebrated singular modern writer.
The book won the Reader’s Choice Award at the Oregon Book Awards in 2012. The book was also the finalist for the PEN Center USA Creative Non-Fiction Award.
Although the news of her directing a movie might be surprising for some people who associate her with acting, her directional debut has been in the works for about 4 years now, from 2018 to be precise. She even co-wrote the script for the movie with Andy Mingo.
Kristen Stewart Is Happy!
In a press statement released by the Twilight star, she is happy to finally bring her vision to life. This is not the first time that she is collaborating with Scott Free on movies. They previously collaborated in 2017 for the short movie Come Swim, which Stewart also co-wrote.
About bringing Lidia’s story to life, Stewart said “Lidia’s memoir honours corporeal experience, radically. To make that experience physical feels vital to me and what this impulse means…is that it absolutely must be a film.”
She also added “This project has been cooking for five years with the help of Scott Free, whom I could not be more privileged to have as partners and friends. Imogen Poots will carry this movie and the staggering weight of Lidia’s life. She can hold it. I am beyond lucky to have her.”
What Did The Producer Say?
The co-writer for the movie Mingo will also act as one of the executive producers for the movie along with Rebecca Feuer and Michael Pruss.
Michael Pruss is also excited to be a part of the project. He said, “Ridley and I are delighted to be working with Kristen again, this time on her feature directorial debut, adapted from Lidia Yuknavitch’s extraordinary memoir.”
He also added that “Furthermore, to have the opportunity to work with Imogen — who is tailor-made for the lead role — is incredibly exciting. The combination of their talents will no doubt produce something exquisite for film audiences worldwide.”
To be able to find people that resonate so much with the project is a testament to how great the movie can be. People are excited to see Stewart in the new avatar. She is most popularly known and even trolled for her acting in Twilight.
But her work in Personal Shopper, Spencer, and Crimes of the Future has changed people’s opinion of her and those are said to be some of her best performances so far.
