Comedian, writer, and actress Kosha Patel has just been cast in ABC’s next comedy soap, “False Profits.” The 28-year old “Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce” actress isn’t the only South Asian on the cast. Kapil Talwalkar is on board, too!
“False Profits” is set in the suburbs of Arizona among down-in-the-dumps women that are involved in a multi-level marketing scheme for a cosmetics company. It’s a vicious world and these women fighting to get on top.
Patel will play the soft-spoken but witty Parvun Chattoraj and Talwalkar will be essaying the role of Ramesh an employee of the Courtyard Marriot. Patel’s character, Parvun is a TJ Maxx employee that is computer savvy and she joins Laura’s (“Scandal” actress Bellamy Young) team of marketers. Talwalkar’s character, Ramesh is co-workers with Ameet (not yet cast) and both are in the management training program at Arizona State University.
The new show is written by “Code Black’s” writer and producer Kayla Alpert, Jason Reed and ABC Studios. The creators describe the show as a cross between “Desperate Housewives” and “Glengarry Glen Rose.”
