Plot of Komi Can’t Communicate
Komi Can’t Communicate is a romantic comedy-drama anime with a high school background. The plot revolves around an elite school girl Komi who lacks social skills in communicating with others. Despite being the most beautiful girl in the school, she has no friends. The whole school sees her as a girl with a mystery. After meeting with Tadano, she starts to change. She opens up to Tadano and tells her wish of making one hundred friends before leaving high school. Tadano decides to help his beloved friend’s goal.
The official synopsis on Netflix describes the anime as “At a high school full of unique characters, Tadano helps his shy and unsociable classmate Komi reach her goal of making friends with 100 people.”
Is There Enough Source Material?
Talking about the source material, the anime is adapted from Oda Tomohito’s manga of the same name. The series received serialization in Weekly Shounen Sunday on May 18, 2016, after publishing a one-shot manga.
The manga has enough source material to receive another season. The two seasons have covered up to 10 volumes of the manga. The 24th episode covered the 130th chapter of the manga.
The manga is still in ongoing status as it has 25 volumes so far. If any wants to cover the manga, they can start reading from the 131st chapter.
Current Status of the Komi Can’t Communicate Season 3
Komi Can’t Communicate director Ayumu Watanabe has revealed his hope for the third season. In an interview with Looper, the director replied: “Yes. I think any director would love to work on whatever they’re working on and see it until the end. I would love to, at least until they graduate.”
But sadly, any official statement of renewing for season 3 of Komi Can’t Communicate has not come from Netflix. So, any status regarding the season 3 cancellation is unknown. But any good news may come out soon, as the series has a big fanbase.
If any season 3 announcement happens at the end of 2022 or at the beginning of 2023, the series may come out sometime in 2024. The 1st and 2nd seasons arrived in 2021 and 2022. Surprisingly, there was just a four-month gap between season 1 and season 2 of Komi Can’t Communicate. But an anime adaptation took much more time than expected. So, it is almost impossible to get released before 2024.
