Keanu Reeves to Star in Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘Devil in the White City’ Series

Hulu is making a TV adaptation of Erik Larson’s best-seller “Devil in the White City”, and Hollywood star Keanu Reaves is set to star in what will be his largest TV role to date. The limited series will be executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio. Hulu has confirmed Keanu Reaves for the role.

Keanu Reaves’ Biggest Role To Date…

Hulu has confirmed a limited series adaptation of “Devil In The White City”, which will star Keanu Reeves. The series will be executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio. The news was announced at the Television Critics Association’s summer tour.

Based on the book of the same name by Erik Larson about the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago, the series will be the “first time the work is adapted for the screen after more than a decade’s worth of deals and bidding by numerous studios”. Todd Field, known for directing “In the Bedroom”, will be the director of the said limited series. It has been reported the eight-episode series is aiming for a 2024 release.

At the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, Hulu Originals announced both The Devil in the White City and The Other Black Girl as part of its future line-up. Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, said of the projects:

“These two new series both speak to the kind of distinct storytelling with uniquely compelling characters and forward-thinking narratives we continue to aim for in all that we do. Both were best-selling books that pierced the culture as they hit shelves, and we look forward to the honor of continuing to tell those stories on screen.”

More About The Series…

Leonardo DiCaprio first optioned the rights to the book in 2010 and was set to star in a feature film adaptation that would be directed by Scorcese. Now, it has been confirmed that both of them will executive produce the limited series, which will be a co-production of Paramount Television Studios and Disney’s ABC Signature.

However, it isn’t clear if Reeves is set to play Burnham or the infamous serial killer Holmes, it is surely going to be his biggest role to date. Reeves previously appeared as an architect, opposite Sandra Bullock in the romantic drama “The Lake House”.

The original book, Devil in the White City is written by Erik Larson and is a historic non-fiction narration of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago from two different perspectives: Daniel Burnham, the architect who designed the Fair and H.H. Holmes, America’s first modern serial murderer who would kill his victims in the hotel he built near the Fair, later dubbed the “Murder Castle”.

The eight-episode series is set to air in 2024. In addition to this, Hulu also announced the premiere dates of two other series “Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne”, a documentary series in which Delevigne explores issues of human sexuality and identity. All six episodes will release on November 18.

Another series, “Tell Me Lies”, which is based on the 2018 novel by Carola Lovering, is set to premiere on September 7. It stars Grace Van Patten and Jackson White as a college couple in a tumultuous intoxicating relationship. The first trailer of the Hulu series will premiere on September 7.
