Katy Perry has decided to quit “American Idol” after the producers continue to throw her under the bus. The 38-year-old singer feels that the show portrays her as a nasty judge. She was first accused of mom-shaming a contestant, Sara Beth Liebe after joking that she had been “laying on the table too much.”
Katy Perry Can’t Take The Criticism Anymore!
Katy Perry has decided to step down as a judge on American Idol after facing months of social media backlash. The “Roar” singer feels that she has been misrepresented by the show. During one interview the singer also mentioned that being a “woman and having strong opinions” is one of the hardest parts of being an Idol judge.
Per multiple outlets, the 38-year-old pop star believes she has been repeatedly “thrown under the bus by producers” who she feels have “edited the show” to make her appear to be the “nasty judge”. Since the last six seasons, she has been criticized multiple times for making nasty comments about contestants.
Katy Perry Isn’t A Woman With Ill Intent
Katy Perry has been the judge on American Idol for the last six months. During this time, she has often faced backlash for the comments she made about the contestants. She was previously accused of mum-shaming Sara Beith Liebe after she joked that the mom of three has been “laying on the table too much”.
Liebel in return slammed the singer for her “hurtful” quip in a TikTok video after her audition aired in March, and added, “I think that it’s hard enough to be a mum and it’s hard enough to be a woman.”
The very next month, Perry came under fire after she bashed contestant Nutsa Buzaladze’s outfit choice. She said, “Nutsa, every time you take the stage it’s like you glitter bomb the stage.
She continued, “Listen, one thing that I would like to see from you is not one piece of glitter the next time. I know that is going to be hard. Fellow judges, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan were left shocked after Perry got booed by the audience.
Not only this but one time the “Teenage Dream” warbler was accused of being disrespectful towards one singer following the elimination of her favorite contestant, Elijah McCormick. In another controversy, Katy Perry kissed a 19-year-old contestant, Benjamin Glaze, on the lips, which many viewers and fans considered “inappropriate and non-consensual.”
Having said that, it is also true that Perry might have a unique sense of humor which might not translate well on camera. She has been the most vibrant judge, known for her wit and jokes. It would definitely be sad to see her go. What do you think?
