The internet star was born to a Haitian father and Trinidadian mother in 2001 in New York City. He aspired to be a comedian from a young age and started posting short-comic videos on Facebook and Instagram during his middle and high school years.

Controversies
Kai Cenat has also faced a number of controversies during his career. In January 2023, TikToker Jovi Pena accused him of refusing to help her when she was assaulted at a New Year’s Eve party hosted by him.
The TikToker claimed that while she was sleeping in an upstairs room at the suggestion of Cenat, a fellow party-goer named Djigui Seck raped her. The streamer then responded to the allegations in one of his videos and revealed that Sech had been his friend since school, and he had no idea about the alleged assault during his party.
