The K-Pop singer AleXa has brought great honor to her home state Oklahoma by winning the first-ever American Song Contest. The winner of the singing show was determined through a combination of jury and fan votes. The NBC show American Song Contest wrapped up in its eighth week on May 9, 2022.
AleXa is the winner of NBC’s ‘American Song Contest’
During an interaction with Billboard, AleXa spilled the beans on how she was feeling when the finale of the singing show was going on. She said, “I was a little nervous after the jury vote but knowing how the point system works out, I was holding hands with my mother and father, praying so hard for my dreams to come true. Fortunately they did and I was lucky enough to win this competition.”
The singer told the media outlet how she felt when she won American Song Contest. She said, “It felt like my brain exploded because my mother was holding onto my arm and she was crying and shaking and so I cried with her. It was a very emotional experience. Sharing that moment with my team and all the ASC friends who were in the crowd meant the world to me.”
What is the show ‘American Song Contest’ all about?
For those of you who are unaware, let us tell you American Song Contest is an American singing reality show that is based on the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’. It takes into consideration all 50 U.S. states, five territories, and Washington, D.C. as they go up against one another for the title of the Best Original Song.
The singing competition took place between March 21 and May 9, 2022, and it aired on NBC. Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson play the role of hosts for the singing contest.
In the year 2020, Variety stated that the competition would feature professional musical artists such as solo singers, duos, or groups of up to six members from each of the 50 U.S. states.
