Peacock recently released a new comedy series titled Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin. The show is a spin-off of the film series Pitch Perfect and follows Bumper traveling to Berlin in the hopes of reviving his career after his rendition of 99 Red Balloons goes viral on German TikTok.
The six-episode first season of the series offered a lot of laughs and ended with a shocking cliffhanger. Fans are now wondering when the show will return for the second season. But is Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin coming back with season 2? Read on to find out.
Is Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin Renewed for Season 2?
As of now, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin has not been picked up for a second season by Peacock. However, fans need not worry as it is pretty early to judge the fate of the show. The first season of the show just released recently, and like Netflix, Peacock will also consider the reviews and viewership before renewing the show.
While the reviews seem to be in favor of the slapstick comedy, the data on the viewership numbers have not been revealed yet, so the show’s renewal can not be confirmed as of now. The first season of the show ended on a cliffhanger, so a second season will be required at least to close all the open-ended stories.
Showrunner and executive producer Megan Amram recently talked about their plans for season 2 in an interview and said, “That’s my way of forcing a Season 2, you have to do a Season 2 to see what happens. I mean, anything can happen.”
“I would love if there was a Season 2. I have some ideas for it. If there wasn’t a Season 2, hopefully this would be its own little confined story with these people. So we’ll see,” she added.
When will Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin Season 2 Release?
As the show has not been officially renewed yet, the release date for the second season can not be confirmed as of now. The first season of the show was announced in September 2021, with filming beginning in March 2022.
The show took more than a year between its announcement and release. If the new season is green-lit in the upcoming weeks, and if the same trend as the previous season is followed, we can expect Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin to return by late 2023.
Who will be Cast in Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin Season 2?
Sarah Hyland is expected to reprise her role as Heidi in the second season. Megan talked about the potential involvement of Hyland if the show gets picked up for a second season and said, “That is absolutely my intention.”
“The real beating heart of this show is the ensemble. So I would really want to make sure that we got all of our characters interacting.” The showrunner also hinted that a number of actors from the film franchise could be reprising their roles in the television series.
“I definitely would like to see how Bumper interacts with [Amy] now that they have not seen each other for many years,” Megan added. Apart from Hyland, the other members of the lead cast are also expected to return, including dam DeVine as Bumper, Lera Abova as Thea, Flula Borg as Pieter and Jameela Jamil as Gisela.
