As Daniel Craig decided to hang his tuxedo, fans were wondering who is going to play the epic role of James Bond. Rumors are all over that “Emily in Paris” star Lucien Laviscount is set to play the next 007 after he grabbed the attention of James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli. Read on to know if Lucien is actually taking over the role or not.
Is Lucien Laviscount Playing James Bond?
“Emily in Paris” star Lucien Laviscount may have bagged the iconic role of James Bond. Rumors are all over that the 30-year-old British actor, who is known for playing Alfie (Emily Cooper’s love) in Netflix’s hit series, has grabbed the attention of James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli.
Laviscount is being considered to take over the huge responsibility from Daniel Craig as he fits in Barbara’s profile, who wants the next actor to play the part for 15 years. Per the latest “DailyMail” report, another reason for casting an actor like him is the filmmaker’s thought of “leaning towards an ethnic-minority star to reflect modern society”.
Sources reveal that “Laviscount ticks all of the boxes.” These sources have added that Laviscount is a “super talented” actor, “extremely handsome” and has attracted new fans over the last 1 year and more since joining the cast of Netflix’s “Emily in Paris”.
“Bond bosses are already saying how you can see him in the 007 tuxedoes, how dapper and fitting to the role, he will look,” another source added. As for Daniel Craig, he wrapped up his final performance as 007 with “No Time To Die” in 2021. However, it is not official yet if Laviscount has been signed or not.
Other Potential Stars For 007…
Since Daniel Craig expressed his intention to retire as James Bond, fans have been wondering who will take over this iconic role. While names like Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Lashana Lynch and others have made it to the expected list of potential actors who can play James Bond, Lucien Laviscount’s name certainly holds credibility.
In a previous interview, Barbara Broccoli stated, “it’s going to take some time” to figure out who should be cast in this iconic role. “It’s a big decision,” she said. “It’s not just casting a role. It’s about a whole rethink about where we’re going.”
Previously, there was news that Idris Elba was Barbara’s pick. Best known for roles including Stringer Bell in the HBO series The Wire, DCI John Luther in the BBC One series Luther, and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Edris became the most talked-about actor for this role.
In 2018, he shocked the industry with a single tweet: “My name’s Elba, Idris Elba.” I think the English actor will is a potential pick for the role of James Bond. He has been nominated four times for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film, winning one, and has been nominated five times for a Primetime Emmy Award.
But again, Edris is too old to fit in Barbara’s expected profile for the next James Bond. As for Lucien Laviscount, he truly ticks all the boxes – he is young, handsome, fit and naturally elegant. The sources have further added that Lucien’s appearance on Big Brother was a ‘sticking point’.
“Lucien appeared on the show at a time when his acting career was not as high-profile as it is now, but he was very popular then and has a fan base now which stretches generations,” the source added. ‘That is a dream for Barbara who is very taken with him.’ While nothing is confirmed, we do think there’s much weight in these rumors.
