These days, the talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is putting some deep thoughts into his late-night show. He has hosted the show for a total of 19 years now. Continue reading to find out if he will be staying on the show or making an exit soon.
Jimmy Kimmel is pondering over the future of his late-night show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’
While making an appearance on Variety‘s Awards Circuit podcast, the 54-year-old revealed the fact that he has been thinking about bidding adieu to his long-running namesake series, Jimmy Kimmel Live!. As of now, his contract with ABC ends the next year, which has made him reflect on his future steps.
Jimmy told the media outlet, “I wish I knew I was gonna do. I have moments where I go, ‘I cannot do this anymore.’ And I have moments where I go, ‘What am I gonna do with my life if I’m not doing this anymore?’ It’s a very complicated thing. And there are practical considerations, and there are family and friend considerations and coworker considerations.”
Kimmel further added, “Eventually, I am going to have to stop doing this. I’m not going to do this forever. I would not be honest at all if I said that I have decided one way or the other. I’m thinking about it a lot, though.”
Jimmy also talked about the Texas school shooting on the podcast
For those of you who are unaware, on May 18, 2022, a school shooting took place in Uvalde, Texas in which a total of 19 kids and 2 adults were killed. Jimmy addressed the situation while speaking on the Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast.
Kimmel said, “There is a certain amount of pessimism that infects you when you’ve talked about this multiple times. Because the first time you think, ‘what I’m saying seems to make sense.”
The Pitch Perfect 2 star went on to say, “It’s pretty much what everyone else is thinking. Maybe this will get through to somebody. Maybe there’ll be a handful of Republican senators, Congress people who go hey, This is nuts. We can’t this can’t keep happening. But then it doesn’t. And it’s somewhat shocking. And then it happens again. And then it happens again.”
Jimmy Kimmel did an April Fool’s prank with Jimmy Fallon
It’s a tale of two Jimmy’s. On the podcast, Kimmel also spilled the beans on the prank he did with fellow talk show host Jimmy Fallon. He swapped studios for a night with “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon.
Kimmel said, “I thought it’d be funny to do with Jimmy Fallon because so many people confuse us. I think I pitched this like four or five years ago. But for whatever reason, COVID being two of the big reasons, it didn’t work out.”
He further added, “This year, I was like, we have to do this because April Fool’s Day is falling on a weekend next year. And we did get it done. And it was amazing that as many people who knew about it, it didn’t get out. It really is surprising that it didn’t.”
