Black Knight is a new South Korean series that premiered on Netflix on May 12th. The sci-fi show is based on the webtoon of the same name by Lee Yun-kyun. It follows a dystopian world where air pollution has drastically reduced the population and the survivors are delivered their basic supplies by specialized delivery drivers known as Knights.
The first season featured only six episodes and audiences, who quickly binged-watched the show, are now anticipating another season. But is Black Knight renewed for season 2 on Netflix? Read on to find out.
Is Black Knight Renewed for Season 2?
At the time of writing, Black Knight has not been renewed for a second season. However, fans need not worry as it is still pretty early to judge the future of the show as the first season premiered only recently.
Netflix will analyze the viewership numbers for the debut season for a few days or weeks in different countries before deciding on going ahead with another season. While South Korean shows are usually finite and feature only a single season, the recent success of Squid Game has changed the trend for good.
From the story’s point of view, the plot of the first season concluded with the finale. However, there is still a lot of source material left to be covered from the webtoon. So we can surely expect Black Knight to return with season 2 if the viewership numbers of the debut season meet Netflix’s expectations.
If the show is renewed within the next few weeks, the second season can be expected to arrive on Netflix by mid-2024. However, we will still need to wait for the official confirmation from the streaming platform.
