Not long ago, Hollywood actress Jena Malone revealed that she was sexually assaulted while filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 2, the final instalment of ”Hunger Games.” She spilled the beans on the whole incident on the social media platform Instagram.
The Pride & Prejudice star also gave all her fans a trigger warning alongside a picture of her in a wheat field after finishing the Francis Lawrence-directed film in the year 2015. Read on to know what Jane has say about the whole incident.
Jena Malone reveals she was sexually assaulted on ‘Hunger Games’ set
On Wednesday, the Golden Globe nominee took to her Instagram page to share that she was sexually assaulted while filming “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2.” In the Instagram post shared, she talked about the incident in detail.
Jena started by writing, “This photo was taken right after I wrapped mocking Jay part two and I had to say goodbye to everyone on set. We were shooting in a beautiful estate in the countryside of France and I asked the driver to let me out in this field so I could cry and capture this moment.”
Malone who played the role of Johanna Mason in the Hunger Games films went on to say, “Even tho this time in Paris was extremely hard for me, was going through a bad breakup and was also sexually assaulted by someone I had worked with.”
The Sucker Punch star further added, “I was so full of gratitude for this project, the people I became close with and this amazing part I got to play. A swirling mix of emotions im only now just learning to sort thru it. I wish it wasn’t tied to such a traumatic event for me but that is the real wildness of life I guess.”
The mom of one continued, “How to hold the chaos with the beauty. I have worked very hard to heal and learn thru [sic] restorative justice, how to make peace with the person who violated me and make peace with myself. It’s been hard to talk about the hunger games and Johanna Mason without feeling the sharpness of this moment in time but I’m ready to move thru it and reclaim the joy and accomplishment I felt.”
Jena concluded, “Lots of love to you survivors out there. The process is so slow and non linear. I want to say im here for anyone who needs to talk or vent or open uncommunicated spaces within themselves. Please dm me if you need a safe space to be heard.”

In the blink of an eye, the comments section of the Hollywood actress’ Instagram post was filled with hundreds of supportive messages from fans all over the world.
One social media user wrote, “thank you for your courage to share this, sending you love and wishing you the best.” Another fan chimed in, “Love you – thanks for this vulnerability.”
Followed by a third supporter who penned, “Sending love and healing vibes for your bravery.” Another user added, “Fellow survivor here, sending love and gratitude to you as you hold the complexity.”
A user went on to say, “The quote ‘I was in a fight that was not a fair fight. I didn’t win. There is so shame in losing such fights’ has helped me a lot. It’s an experience that can feel like the loneliest, while you are simultaneously not ever alone. I’m so sorry you had to go through this too.”
When did Jena Malone shot to fame?
For those of you who are unaware, let us share with you, Jena Malone rose to prominence after starring in the 1996 film “Bastard Out of Carolina,” for which she bagged the Young Artist Award.
Since then, Malone has appeared in many films like Pride & Prejudice, Life as a House, The Ballad of Jack and Rose, The Book of Stars, Cheaters, Into the Wild, The Ruins, Sucker Punch, The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 amongst many others.
In addition to this, Jena has also been a part of several TV shows such as Hope, Homicide: Life on the Street, Touched by an Angel, Hitler: The Rise of Evil, Dakota, Law & Order, Too Old to Die Young, and Goliath.
Last summer, Jena Malone came out as pansexual
The For Love of the Game actress came as pansexual last year. At that point in time, she called her journey toward coming out as pansexual a “really sweet, human experience.”
In August 2022, Jena told the Hollywood Reporter, “The sexual journey is so beautiful. I mean, all of the identity journeys are so cool. I feel like I’m a little bit late to the game in being able to have less shame. I’ve been loving the process of learning more about myself and others through different terms that open windows, those windows then turns into doors and then I arrive at a place to find all this cool stuff out there.”
The Hunger Games actress further added, “It’s a part of humanity now to have all these ceremonies of exclamation around coming out and renouncing [an identity] and celebrating that space for yourself. It’s a really sweet, human experience. I love getting to learn more about myself no matter the age or my experience.”
In an Instagram post, Malone shared, “I guess It felt like I was a heterosexual man in a woman’s body. I visualized his desires and placed them on to me. But this, was never the whole of the story that was meant for me. So I’ve been learning a new way to tell it. Using words to guide me not define me.”
When we shed some light on the personal life of Jena, she is a proud mom of her 6-year-old son Ode Mountain. She welcomed her son with her former partner Ethan DeLorenzo in 2016.
