In an interview with Vogue magazine, the Love The Way You Lie singer said, “I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.”

Later on, during the same year, the NFL partnered with Jay-Z and his Rock Nation group to  “enhance the NFL’s live game experiences and to amplify the league’s social justice efforts.”

What songs will Rihanna’s sing at Super Bowl Halftime Show?

During a press conference held on Thursday by Apple Music, the official sponsor for the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show, the This Is What You Came For hitmaker disclosed that it was very difficult for her to “cram 17 years of work” into her upcoming 13-minute performance.

The Barbados-born pop star said, “The set list was the biggest challenge. That was the hardest, hardest part. Deciding how to maximize 13 minutes, but also celebrate — that’s what this show’s gonna be — it’s gonna be a celebration of my catalog in the best way that we could’ve put it together.”

Picking the final songs for her performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2023 wasn’t an easy thing for Rihanna. She mentioned that there’s been “about 39 versions” of the setlist thus far. She continued, “I think we did a pretty good job at narrowing it down.” RiRi is looking forward to bringing Caribbean influences to the Super Bowl stage.

The Diamonds crooner went on to say, “That’s a big part of why this is important for me to do this show: representation. Representing for immigrants, representing for my country Barbados, representing for Black women everywhere. I just think that’s really important. That’s key for people to see the possibilities. And I’m honored to be here. I’m honored to be [performing] this year.”

Rihanna told Apple Music host Nadeska Alexis that she has been so focused on Halftime Show that she forgot about her birthday as well as Valentine’s Day. She said, “Sunday, now that’s the one. I’ve been so focused on the Super Bowl I totally forgot that my birthday’s coming up. I totally forgot about Valentine’s Day.”

Will there be a pre-show?

The answer to the above question is a big yes. In the pre-game program, we will get to see the award-winning country artist Chris Stapleton sing the national anthem. The musician who is fresh off his amazing performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards will share the stage with other singers as well.

Chris Stapleton will be joined by singer-songwriter and producer Babyface, who will perform “America the Beautiful,” and Emmy-winning Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph, who will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

In Thursday’s press conference, Ralph, a proud Eagles fan, said, “‘The Star-Spangled Banner,’ ‘America the Beautiful,’ and ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing,’ the national Black anthem. To me, that shows a major effort by the NFL to be truly inclusive.”

Ralph further added, “What a time. What a way to bring us all together. So I’m very pleased and very happy to be able to be on the 40-yard line. Oh yeah, baby!”

Will any Oscar-winning actors be involved in the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2023?

We know all of you are pondering whether any Oscar-winning stars will be a part of the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2023, let us clear the air, all the pre-show performers will be accompanied by a fellow artist on the behalf of the National Association of the Deaf, who will simultaneously perform the songs in American Sign Language.

CODA Best Actor winner Troy Kotsur will sign the national anthem, on the other hand, Colin Denny who is a member of Arizona’s Navajo Nation will sign “America the Beautiful,” and Justina Miles will sign “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
