Tupac Shakur finally has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Not long ago, all the friends and family members of the legendary rapper, actor, and poet came together to honor him posthumously with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Tupac Shakur gets honored with Hollywood Walk of Fame star
Hollywood Walk of Fame honors hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur with a star nearly 26 years after his death. The famed musician was honored on June 7, Wednesday, with a ceremony that took place on the prestigious Los Angeles walkway. Radio personality Big Boy served as the emcee for the event.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Big Boy said, “He defied the distinction between art and activism. Â Though his career lasted just five years, Tupac Shakur remains one of the most complex and prolific artists of his generation with over 75,000 records sold worldwide.”
Soon after, Tupac’s sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur came up to the podium and accepted her late brother’s award. On Wednesday, Shakur was honored with the 2,758th star at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard.
The artist’s sister said, “From the first time he stepped foot on the stage of the Apollo Theater at 13, before anyone recognised his name, he knew he had the dream to have a star here on the Walk of Fame.”
She further added, “Today, we’re not just honouring a star in the ground, but we’re honouring the work and the passion that he’s put into making his dreams come true. His heavenly star will shine a little brighter today. And once again, he has made us all extremely proud.”
‘Dear Mama’ director Allen Hughes talked about Tupac Shakur’s legacy
Soon after, Allen Hughes, the director of Hulu’s docuseries Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur also took over the stage and said, “How fitting in the year of hip hop’s 50th anniversary that the art form’s most transcendent star is finally being placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
He further added, “Tupac Amaru Shakur has become a global symbol of rebellion – a symbol as visible and important as Malcolm X and Che Guevara and an inspiration to activists today.”
Hughes continued, “Indeed the entire world feels Tupac’s message. Not so bad for a little Black boy from Harlem, right?” Shakur, well known for big hits like I Ain’t Mad at Cha, California Love (Remix), and How Do U Want It was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 by Snoop Dogg.
