Hailey Bieber Flaunts ‘Nepo Baby’ Shirt Amid Weeks-Long Debate On The Term

Justin Bieber’s wife Hailey Bieber is surely a “double nepo baby” and she doesn’t mind it. The sensational model recently donned a “nepo baby” tee amid a weeks-long debate surrounding the term. Her look comes after New York Magazine’s recent cover story, featuring the faces of A-list celebs pasted on the bodies of their babies. The story sparked weeks-long debate surrounding the privileges enjoyed by celebrity children.

Hailey Embraces “Nepo Baby” Shirt…

Before speaking about her look, let me tell you how Hailey Bieber is a “double nepo baby”. If you’re not aware, Justin Bieber’s wife is the daughter of successful actor and director, Stephen Baldwin and the niece of “The Hunt For Red October” star Alec Baldwin. Not to mention, she is married to multiple Grammy-winning artist, Justin Bieber.

Recently, Hailey decided to flaunt her tag of being a “nepo baby” amid weeks-long debate surrounding the New York Magazine’s cover story, which featured faces of many A-list celebs pasted on the bodies of their privileged children. Hailey donned a “nepo baby” shirt Friday (Jan.6) while running basic errands in LA.

Later, she was captured having a fancy lunch with her friend, Justine Skye at the restaurant Great White. She complimented this look with blue jeans, a black belt and a sleek purse. Coming to the question, of why she’d flaunt such a look? Well, we can call it a humour-filled response to the New York Magazine. Interestingly, instead of condemning her, fans are praising her for the iconic look.

All About The “Nepo Baby” Cover Story

In December 2022, the term came to light after  New York magazine released its latest cover, referring to 2022 “The Year of the Nepo Baby” with the headline: “She has her mother’s eyes. And an agent.” Apart from this, the cover included graphic images of different celebrity faces on the bodies of their babies.

This article was written by “Vulture” write Nate Jones, who noted that nepo-baby “label was something you were born with”, detailing why and how it has sparked outrage. “A nepo baby is physical proof that meritocracy is a lie. We love them, we hate them, we disrespect them, we’re obsessed with them,” he wrote with a mixed feelings.

Nate’s article ignited a weeks-long debate on the term and people had mixed reactions. One person, for instance, wrote: “The nepo baby article is actually ridiculous in the best way,” one wrote. “Some of y’all getting real defensive about that NY Mag cover on behalf of nepo babies, it’s funny, laugh,” another wrote.

A third mentioned: “Whoever wrote that nepo baby article kind of a genius though…To be able to cite that many types and examples of nepo babies ohhhh they were mad as hell.” However, many came forward to defend these nepo children and praised their successful careers, regardless of their family backgrounds.

As for Hailey Bieber, the 26-year-old beauty mogul and model, has been praised for pulling off the tag in style. One person wrote,  “Hailey Bieber in a ’nepo baby’ shirt amid the debate is kind of a moment.”

“Hailey wearing a ‘nepo baby’ t-shirt is such a service,” another said. A third fan mentioned: “People being mad over the fact that Hailey Bieber was wearing a shirt that says ‘nepo baby’ (something they’ve been calling her) is kinda iconic if you ask me.”

Now if you ask me, Hailey should have gone for a “double nepo baby” shirt. Nevertheless, she may have not publicly spoken about the term, or about the release of New York magazine’s nepotism baby cover, but some models have come forward to express their concerns.

For instance, Lottie Moss, half-sister of supermodel Kate Moss, revealed how people blame nepotism for their own career failures. “I’m so sick of people blaming nepotism for why they aren’t rich and famous or successful,” the British model tweeted last month. “Obviously it’s not fair that people who come from famous families are getting a leg up because of that but guess what? Life isn’t fair.”

Nepotism has been a much-talked-about term in Hollywood. Even though most celebrity babies turned into great actors due to their hard work, people usually frown upon them for coming from privileged backgrounds. Honestly, there’s a lot of truth in it, but then it’s a mixed feeling. What do you think? Let’s start a debate in the comment box!
