The project was announced two years ago and is centered on George R. R. Martin’s Fire and Blood, a book about the Targaryen family’s history that takes place two centuries before the happenings of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, on which Game of Thrones is based.

The new series follows the chronology of House Targaryen and is believed to represent the Targaryen civil war known as the “Dance of the Dragons.” Miguel Sapochnik, a Game of Thrones veteran, will produce the premiere and subsequent episodes, as well as act as showrunner alongside Ryan Condal. HBO stated about the series’ plot. ‘Sound of Metal’ and ‘Ready Player One’ beloved Alicent Hightower, the daughter of Hand of the King Otto Hightower, is played by Olivia Cooke.

According to HBO Alicent is described ‘the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms.’ She was nurtured in the Red Keep, close to the king and his inner circle, and has a courtly grace as well as a strong political sense.
