The atmosphere for the Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon is set in a new teaser released on Tuesday. While no exact date has been set, HBO has stated that the show would launch in 2022. We everyone knew the production had been halted, but the teaser had piqued the attention of the public.
The project was announced two years ago and is centered on George R. R. Martin’s Fire and Blood, a book about the Targaryen family’s history that takes place two centuries before the happenings of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, on which Game of Thrones is based.
The new series follows the chronology of House Targaryen and is believed to represent the Targaryen civil war known as the “Dance of the Dragons.” Miguel Sapochnik, a Game of Thrones veteran, will produce the premiere and subsequent episodes, as well as act as showrunner alongside Ryan Condal.
