‘Firefly Lane’ Is Ending At Netflix With Super-Sized Season 2

Firefly Lane girls are back but not for too long.

Tully and Kate meet as young girls on Firefly Lane and become inseparable friends over the course of 30 years of challenges and triumphs. It was recently announced that the second season will consist of 16 episodes split into two parts.

The first installment of the second season is set to be released on December 2, 2022, with the second installment following in 2023. The series received positive feedback from audiences, but new developments have arrived.

Firefly Lane Season 2 Is The Finale Of The Show

The end of FireflyLane is near. The second season of the Netflix series starring Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke will make an appearance as the finale.

We know it’s disappointing but there’s at least going to be a satisfactory ending. A super-sized season is definitely great news for the audience.

According to the press release of the upcoming finale season, “We’ll learn the answer this season — but first — Kate grapples with the painful aftermath of Johnny’s [Ben Lawson] ill-fated trip to Iraq, while Tully faces a lawsuit after walking away from her talk show, and must start her career over from the bottom.

This leads her to search for answers about who she is and where she comes from — including a quest to find the father she never met, against the wishes of her secretive hippie mother, Cloud [Beau Garrett].

In the ’80s, we see Kate and Johnny first fall in love, creating more than a little drama in the newsroom where they work, as Tully’s career rises and she spars (and flirts!) with cocky sportscaster Danny Diaz.

She just might have met her match — that is, if they can stop arguing for five minutes. While in the ’70s, teenage Kate and Tully struggle to keep their friendship together as Cloud goes to jail for dealing drugs and Tully goes to live with her grandmother, far away from Firefly Lane.

As the girls face the tumult of high school apart, they know the one thing they really need is each other.”

What To Expect From Firefly Lane Season 2?

Maggie Friedman, the creator of the show shed some light on what to expect from the upcoming season.

The creator was asked if there would be a second season if it would follow the same structure with the time jumps. And would the audience see Tully and Kate as teenagers more often?

“Yeah, that would continue to be the structure of the show where we’re jumping around in time. I think there are a lot more stories to tell, if we’re lucky enough to have a season 2, of those girls going through high school and what that’s like. They’re only in eighth grade when we leave them.

They’ll have a lot of good teen years and fun seventies, growing up times with the great music and the fashions and all of the cultural changes. I think it’s just really interesting. I’d love to keep telling us that those stories and those actors are so good, so of course, I would want to keep seeing them and Beau [Garrett], who plays Cloud, is so great.”

On the question of Johnny & Kate’s shipping, the creator said, “I really can’t say. I will say I also ship them, but let’s see where the story leads them.”

There are new additions to the cast of season 2 and it includes:

  • India de Beaufort as Charlotte
  • Greg Germann as Benedict
  • Jolene Purdy as Justine
  • Ignacio Serricchio as Danny

Additional cast includes Ben Lawson, Beau Garrett, Ali Skovbye, Roan Curtis, and Yael Yurman.
