Fire Country, an action drama based on firefighters, premiered on CBS in October last year. The series joined the long list of shows on the theme, including 9-1-1: Lone Star and Chicago Fire. However, it was able to carve its own niche in the audience’s hearts.
The final episode of the first season of the show is scheduled to air soon, and fans are now eager to know if there is another installment in the works. So is Fire Country renewed for season 2? Read on to find out.
Fire Country Season 2: Renewal Status
Fans would be happy to know that Fire Country will surely return with season 2. The renewal was announced in January 2023 after a highly positive response to the first season. The show had become the most-watched new series on television in the 2022-2023 season, which led to its quick renewal.
Announcing season 2, President of CBS Entertainment, Amy Reisenbach, said, “It’s pretty remarkable to see a new series resonate like this with both broadcast and streaming audiences right out of the gate. Fire Country’ has so many appealing entry points for the audience.”
“It combines high-stakes action with small town charm, mystery and romance, and a family franchise at its core. We’re blessed to have an incredible team in front of and behind the camera led by amazing producers and writers and an exceptionally talented cast.”
The release date for the new season has not been announced yet, however, CBS launches new seasons generally from mid-September to mid-October. Fire Country season 1 premiered on October 7th, 2022 and season 2 is also expected around a similar timeline this year.
Fire Country Season 2: Plotline
The details of the storyline for the new season have been kept under wraps till now. However, it is expected that Bode Donovan will continue to struggle with his dark past while trying to move on with his firefighting job. The love triangle between Donovan, Perez, and Jake will also likely continue in season 2.
The description for the show reads, “Bode Donovan is a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region.”
“Five years ago, Bode burned down everything in his life, leaving town with a big secret. Now he’s back, with the rap sheet of a criminal and the audacity to believe in a chance for redemption with Cal Fire.”
Fire Country Season 2: Cast
Max Thieriot will most probably return as the protagonist Donovan. Other cast members who are expected to reprise their roles in the new season include Billy Burke as Vince Leone, Diane Farr as Sharon Leone, Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez, Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards, Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford and Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela Perez.
Fire Country is created by Thieriot, along with Tony Phelan and Joan Rater. The three also serve as executive producers, with Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, and Kristie Anne Reed. The show has been produced by Jerry Bruckheimer for CBS.
