Extraction 2 First Look Teases Twice the Action
The footage features a voice-over by Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake, as the actor sets out to perform some spectacular stunts on moving cars, trains and helicopters. In one of the shots, a helicopter is seen landing on a moving train.
The director, Sam Hargrave, then makes an appearance promising that the film is going to be twice as thrilling as its predecessor. “With the title of 2 behind your name, you have to bring at least twice the action,” says the director.
Meanwhile, Chris backs his claims by saying, “Where the landscape is ever evolving, where everything that got you here doesn’t mean a thing unless you can do it bigger and better than ever before.” Watch the footage below.
The exact date of the premiere has not been announced, but it is known that the film will be launched sometime in 2023. Meanwhile, fans can not contain their excitement after watching the gripping first-look teaser. “Extraction was one of my favorite action movies of 2020 so I’m very excited to see where the sequel goes. Already looks incredible!” wrote a fan.
Extraction Became the Most-Watched Netflix Film During its Premiere
At the time of its release, Extraction became the most-watched Netflix original film of all time. The film was watched by 99 million viewers during the first four weeks after its premiere. Apart from the huge viewership numbers, the film also got critical appreciation, especially for its action sequences.
The original film had a long one-take shot that followed a car chase and running sequence, followed by a knife fight. Director Hargrave has now revealed that the sequel will feature even bigger and better scenes.
“For Extraction 1, we had a major action sequence that felt like one continuous shot. For Extraction 2, we’re going to push that even further with a sequence more intricate and extreme than before,” he says. And looking at the first look footage, we are sure that he and his team are going to this off.
Joe and Anthony Russo have Written the Sequel
Apart from director Hargrave, writers Joe and Anthony Russo, who wrote the first film, have written the sequel as well. Along with Chris Hemsworth, actress Golshifteh Farahani will be reprising her role as Nik Khan. The film will also star Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili.
The synopsis of the film reads, “After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.”
