The Resident Evil Series set up a lot of groundwork for a possible season two, but what’s the update? Jade Wesker battles for survival in a world overrun by infected creatures fourteen years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse. While tormented by her past, her father, and what happened to her sister, Billie.
The series takes place in its own universe but uses the storyline of the video game series as its backstory and grounds. Critics gave the series mixed reviews, with some praising the action sequences, visuals, and performances of the cast, particularly Reddick and Núñez.
Spectators are curious regarding the possibility of another season, let’s explore.
Resident Evil Season 2 Renewal Status
Resident Evil’s renewal status has yet to be announced by Netflix. And it’s still too early because it takes time to analyze viewership and other factors before renewing a show for another season.
However, there have been some rumors. The showrunner wants the series to last a long time because there is so much to discover and it would be a lot of fun.
Showrunner Andrew Dabb explained, “We have original ideas, but there are also legacy characters that we want to bring into our show. Season 1 is about, okay, let’s set everything up. Here are these new characters, and hopefully everybody likes and enjoys them.
Now, what happens when they meet ‘Character X’ from the games? There’s a lot of really fun stuff to explore, and my hope is that the show runs for a really long time.”
When Could We Expect Resident Evil Season 2?
Though there isn’t any confirmation on the renewal status. However, if the show is renewed, we can expect it in about 18 months.
Dabb also stated, “All the games that have come out today, [from] the first game to Village, are the backstory of our show. So Raccoon City got nuked. In Eastern Europe, there was a giant vampire lady [aka Lady Dimitrescu]. That’s all in our world.”
And then added, “because we’re producing, hopefully, a show every 18 months or so, and the games take a little bit longer to ramp into production… We made the choice [in Season 1] to just touch the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the game lore.
If we’re lucky enough to go into Season 2 and beyond, you’ll start to see a lot more game elements coming into the show.”That means it could arrive by the end of 2023 or early 2024.
The Team Has A Larger Story
Andrew also stated, “We have a larger story with a beginning, middle, and end. If we’re fortunate enough to go ahead with season 2 and beyond, we’re well-armed. Let’s put it that way.” “Whether that’s two seasons or three seasons or four seasons or five seasons, we’ll let the audience dictate to us.
I will say that the deeper we get into it, the more story we’re finding as we bring in more elements from the games and expand these worlds and these characters.”
