After nine impressive seasons, British detective drama Endeavour will be coming to an end with the release of its upcoming episode. The show, which first premiered in 2012, is a prequel to Inspector Morsel and follows the early career of Endeavour Morse in the 1960s and 1970s.
Endeavour season 9, the series’ final installment, debuted in February this year. It is only going to feature three episodes, the last one of which is going to air soon. Read on to find out the release date and time of Endeavour season 9, episode 3.
Endeavour Season 9 Episode 3: Finale Release Date and Time
The third and final episode of Endeavour season 9 will be airing in the UK on Sunday, March 12, at 8 pm. The episode, titled Exeunt, will premiere on ITV1. It has been directed by Kate Saxon and written by Russell Lewis. The episode will be available to stream on ITVX.
Viewers in the US will be able to watch the complete season on PBS later this year. However, the release date has not been confirmed yet. The eighth season continued in the UK in September 2021 and started airing in the US in June 2022. If the same trend is followed, Endeavour season 9 will premiere in the US by the end of 2023.
Endeavour Season 9 Episode 3 will Serve as Series Finale
The show will be concluding with the release of the third episode of Endeavour season 9. British dramas usually have only a small number of episodes in each season, and Endeavour will be no different.
Talking about the finale, executive producer Damien Timmer revealed that creator Russell Lewis always had the end in his mind. “From the first Endeavour pilot, Russell has known exactly where he wanted to end the saga of Endeavour Morse and Fred Thursday,” he said.
“We put off this awful day for as long as we possibly could, but there was a point a few years ago where we agreed as a creative team that it was time to prepare for the final end, and go out on a high!”
“ITV has been the most generous and supportive partners and were very respectful of the team’s decision to make this the final series. We have now made more Endeavour films than there were Inspector Morse stories,” he added.

Shaun Evans also opened up about the show’s end in a recent interview and said, “What we wanted to do was to end Endeavour in a way that was fitting to all of the enormous work we had put into it over the last 10 years and also to all of the huge support we have had every year from the audience.”
