Drake takes a dig at Kanye West by using his former spouse Kim Kardashian’s audio in his new track ‘Rescue Me’

Drake is firing shots at Kanye West! Over the weekend, the God’s Plan singer hit the stage at J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival. While performing a few hits, he also sang a new song named Rescue Me which included an audio of the reality TV star Kim Kardashian from the series finale of the show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

In the audio, Kim can be heard talking about her relationship with her ex-husband Kanye West. At that time, she told her momager Kris Jenner the moment when she knew she wanted a divorce from Ye.

In the song Rescue Me, you can hear Kardashian saying, “I didn’t come this far just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that.” During curtain-closing the Dreamville Fest, Drake brought many other artists on the stage such as GloRilla, Lil Uzi Vert, and his upcoming It’s All a Blur Tour costar 21 Savage.

As of this moment, it’s not known when will Drake’s new song Rescue Me be released officially. However, it seems like Ye must be cooking some new music in the studio to clap back at the rapper.

Here’s all you need to know about the love-hate relationship between Kanye West and Drake

Kanye West and Drake have had a complicated history for over a decade now. However, the Laugh Now Cry Later hitmaker has always admired Ye for his music. Over the years, the two of them have even exchanged Diss tracks and engaged in social media feuds as well.

During an earlier interview with MTV News, the Canadian rapper described West as “the most influential person” on his sound. At that time, Drake said, “Before I ever got the chance to meet him, Kanye West shaped a lot of what I do, as far as music goes. We always, always, always took the time to listen to Kanye’s music and appreciate it beyond. We searched the samples and we find out where his inspiration came from, because he has one of the best ears in music, period.”

Champagne Papi aka Drake went on to say, “He knows how to recognize great music that’s not his. He knows how to utilize great sounds and great music. So before I met him, I had the utmost respect for Kanye West. I’d even go as far as to say he’s the most influential person as far as a musician that I’d ever had in my life.”

The first time Drake dissed Kanye was in the year 2011. At that point in time, he talked about Ye in an interview with English DJ Tim Westwood. Then, he mentioned that he and Lil Wayne were working on an album and also threw a jab at West and JAY-Z, who were also working on their joint album, Watch the Throne.
The Started From the Bottom crooner said, “I heard some other guys are coming out with an album, too. There’s two other rappers that are coming out with an album together. I don’t know where they got that idea.”
While having a chat with The Issue during the same year, Drake spoke about being compared to West. Then, he said, “It’s an honor. When I was a kid trying to figure out what I liked, it was Ye who I related to the most. He was an artist, in every sense, from his cover art to his music. Now, I would say, he is [a] really great competitor…and friend, at the same time… My goal is to surpass everything he’s accomplished. I don’t want to be as good as Kanye, I want to be better.”
In December 2011, the One Dance singer threw another jab at West and JAY-Z’s Watch the Throne in a verse on DJ Khaled’s song I’m On One. Then, he rapped, “I’m just feeling like the throne is for the taking/Watch me take it.”
Nearly 2 years later, the Yeezy founder showed up at Drake’s 2013 OVO Fest as a surprise guest. West not only performed on the stage but also stated that Drake had a part in inspiring his joint album with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne. As per MTV News, West told the crowd, “Me and Hov would’ve never made Watch the Throne if [Drake] wasn’t putting pressure on us like that, so I just want to pay my respects.”
Later on, Drake told the media outlet that Ye’s surprise appearance at the OVO Fest “was probably the most important moment in my career to date.” He further added, “I think me and Kanye have wanted to express our respect for each other for a long time and sometimes rap, the business, the competitiveness and just the heart behind it forces you to not talk to the people you quietly admire.”
Soon after, Drake dissed Ye’s album Yeezus. In 2015, the two superstars dropped their first collaboration ever, on Big Sean’s Blessings. All seemed well between both of them in 2016 when Kanye gave writing credit to Drake for 30 Hours but things took a turn rapidly, and they started bashing each other again in interviews as well as on social media. Their beef is still going on.
