Drake and 21 Savage’s Album Her Loss Delayed
Her Loss will now see the light on Friday, November 4. Both Drake and 21 Savage announced the news on their Instagram stories. They wrote, “Our brother @OVO40 got COVID while mixing and mastering the crack so he’s resting up and NOVEMBER 4th is HER LOSS day we’ll see you soon.”
OVO Sound, the record label that is releasing the album, also confirmed the development with a tweet. The label wrote, “DVSN ‘Working On My Karma’ 10/28, Drake & 21 ‘Her Loss’ 11/4 @dvsn @Drake @21savage”
While some fans were disappointed with the news, others had a funny reaction to the situation, with one writing, “As soon as Drake saw that Rihanna is also dropping he decided to delay the album,” and another replying, “So it’s delayed? Her loss? More like our loss now…”
The Album was Announced in the Rappers’ Track Jimmy Cooks
The release of Her Loss was announced just six days before the scheduled launch date on October 22. The announcement was made in the middle of the music video of Jimmy Cooks, Drizzy and Savage 21 latest collaboration featured on the former’s album Honestly, Nevermind.
“HER LOSS – ALBUM BY DRAKE AND 21 SAVAGE – OCTOBER 28, 2022,” appeared on the screen near the halfway point of the music video. Honestly, Nevermind is Drake’s seventh studio album which dropped in June this year, just a few hours after its announcement, and reached number 1 on Billboard 200.
Drake and 21 Savage have a Long History of Collaboration
While Her Loss is highly anticipated, it certainly would not be the first time when the two music stars have collaborated. The duo previously worked on Knife Talk from Drake’s album Certified Lover Boy and Mr. Right Now from 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s album Savage Mode II. Other of their collaborative tracks include Sneakin’ and Issa.
The two have also forged a great friendship over the years, with the rappers talking highly of each other on several occasions. “If I wasn’t a rapper, I don’t feel like I still would listen to Drake, for real,” Savage had said at one point. His manager Meezy had earlier revealed that the two do not even discuss the monetary aspects of their collaborations.
“Drake just a genuine-ass good-hearted person. He did a lot of sh*t he didn’t have to do. He do a lot of sh*t for up-and-coming rappers, period. I don’t think he get his respect for that. Every f—’ year, he pull a new artist up. Ain’t no other artist on his level do that sh*t,” 21 Savage stated in another interview.
