Diddy has become the second-richest hip-hop star, surpassing Kanye West and replacing him on the list of 2022’s wealthiest hip-hop artists. The 52 year old rapper and record producer is now officially declared a billionaire, with his net worth estimated at $1 billion.
Meanwhile, Kanye’s wealth dropped significantly in the previous month after multiple brands cut ties with him following his antisemitic comments, including Adidas, which decided to terminate the deal with his brand Yeezy.
Diddy is Officially a Billionaire now
The Coming Home rapper is now ranked second on the list of 2022’s wealthiest hip-hop artists, which is topped by Jay-Z, who has a net worth of $1.5 billion. The huge jump in Diddy’s earnings is attributed to his investment in Ciroc, which is valued at around $60 million. Other assets, including Revolt and DeLeón Tequila, also contribute to his net worth.
Kanye is now at the third spot on the list with a net worth of $500 million. Berner and Dr. Dre occupy the last two spots in the ranking with an estimated wealth of $410 million and $400 million, respectively.
In 2017, Diddy made headlines after claiming that he had become a billionaire in a motivational video on YouTube. After the video went viral, he posted a statement clarifying that he had not achieved the status yet.
“A lot of blogs took that as I had become Hip Hop’s first billionaire. That is not the case. The race is still on. It really ain’t about the money at the end of the day. It’s about the impact that you have on the world,” Diddy had said at the time. Well, five years later, his claims have turned true.
Kanye West’s Worth Dropped from $2 Billion to $500 Million
Ye, who lost the second rank to Diddy, now stands with $500 million in his pocket. The rapper apparently lost $1.5 billion last week after Adidas decided to part ways with him over his frequent antisemitic statements. The brand pulled the plug on its deal with Ye’s apparel brand on October 25.
The remaining of his wealth now comes from his 5% stake in SKIMS, his ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s shape wear brand, and through his earnings from music career and real estate holdings.
West had Posted Antisemitic Theories Targeting Diddy Earlier this Month
Ironically, Diddy was the first celebrity targeted by Kanye with anti-Jews remarks, which led to his downfall. When Ye appeared on his Yeezy fashion show wearing a ‘White Lives Matter’ t-shirt at the beginning of the month, Diddy called him out on social media.
West then posted a screenshot of their conversation on Instagram, in which Diddy had texted, “Let’s stop playing these internet games. And don’t feel threatened. You’ll be fine. Just love.”
Ye’s reply to him read, “This ain’t a game Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me I told you this was war Now gone get you some business.” And since then, the rapper has continued to blurt out conspiracy theories and offensive statements that led to his ban from several brands and platforms.
